About the Institute
Established under the aegis of ILO and the UNDP, NITIE was set up in 1963 and is as
old as the concept of management in India. Over the years it has emerged as one of
India's ‘Ivy-League’ B-Schools and has been accorded the stature of CENTRE OF
EXCELLENCE along with the IITs, IIMs and IISC by Ministry of HRD, India.
The focus in NITIE is on developing cross functional and managerial abilities that can
be leveraged and applied across all segments and sectors of Industry. Located in
Mumbai - the business capital of India, NITIE provides great scope for robust student-
industry interaction.
PGDIM
The course has been modeled along the lines of the general management program at
MIT Sloan School of Management. The present curriculum has undergone continuous
fine-tuning in line with the requirements of the dynamic business environment. The
course incorporates a wide range of electives providing the students an opportunity to
pursue their functional areas of interest.
PGDITM
Aims to develop knowledgeable and skilled IT professionals who can formulate IT
strategies and design, develop and implement IT based total business solutions for
global enterprises in various sectors. The program is designed to develop skilled IT
and telecom business managers who can use and manage the enterprise network
services to revitalize business processes, conduct electronic commerce, improve
business decision making and gain competitive advantage.
PGDISEM
The course addresses a crucial contemporary requirement - the design, development,
management and maintenance of safe and environmentally sound industrial systems
and work places. The students are taught the sustainable practices of businesses from
the points of view of operations management and process technologies, finance,
economics and human resource management. It’s the first of its kind course in the
country.

Selection Criteria
Candidates should have Bachelor's Degree with First Class in any branch of
Engineering / Technology or equivalent with the First Division (5% concession in
case of SC/ST/PD candidates).
CAT Score is used for short listing the candidates for GD/PI. Final selection is based
on different weightages given to criteria’s such as CAT Score, GD, PI, Work
Experience, academic record, extra-curricular etc.
Prerana Business Meet (PBM) is the flagship event of Prerana, the annual
management festival of NITIE, Mumbai. It has come a long way since the first
edition, organized in association with FICCI in 2002. Over the years, it has seen
esteemed speakers like Niranjan Hirnanandani, Nandan Nilekani, Venugopal
Dhoot etc grace the occasion and enlighten the audience on issues of contemporary
relevance.

This year’s edition of Prerana Business was better than ever as the students got
insights from all sectors of modern industry. The esteemed panel consisted of Mr.

PRERANA BUSINESS QUIZ @ NITIE
Year after year, Prerana, the international level Business Festival at NITIE has
witnessed great quiz masters like Derek O Brien, Siddharth Basu, Pranab
Mukherjee, Gautam Bhimani, Avinash Mudaliar coming down to NITIE campus.
Every year B-Schools and corporate fight it out for top honors in this widely
anticipated event.
Around 300 students from B-Schools like IIM ’s, FMS, MDI, JBIMS, SP Jain, IIFT,
NMIMS, TISS, XLRI, XIBM, and a large number of Mumbai colleges participated in
the event.
MANDI
Every year NITIEans take to the streets of Mumbai in a unique annual event called
MANDI where they sell toys made by kids of an NGO-NAVNIRMITI. The proceeds
from the sales are given back to the NGO and this forms almost 50% of their annual
revenue.
MANDI stands as a hallmark in NITIE’s
curriculum as it integrates the theoretical
principles of statistics, managerial economics,
marketing and basic market research with their
practical application.
The 2008 edition of IIM Bangalore-Vista saw the introduction of the rolling trophy –
Altar Vista– that would go to the college that wins maximum number of points, as
decided by a comprehensive point’s mechanism. After three days of intense
competition which featured all the top B-Schools from India and abroad, it was
NITIE, Mumbai which emerged victorious.
