Wow what a fantastic day our Gala was. We have had so much positive feedback that the Gala committee are buzzing. A few have already started organizing for next year! Thank you to all the extras who helped on the Saturday setup and the Sunday clean up. You helped make this day a raging success! What an awesome community we have. Cant wait for next year.

If you would like to purchase a ticket call into the school office during school hours. Inter-school Swimming Champs This Fridy 15th March at the Waiouru Pool starting at 10am. We have a pretty smooth procedure, but we do need a few volunteers to help us out on the day. Please ring Marama at the school or turn up at the pools before 10am. Please note: this is not a whole school event so if your child has not brought home a permission slip then they are not participating. Tussock Buster Fundraiser To date we have not had one single person offer to help, please remember that the more fundraising we do will make the finacial burden on you as a parent for extra curriculum activities easier ie; Camp, skiing, day trips, etc. We do need your help to make it successful. Tussock Buster is set for the 22 - 24 Mar 2013 Again we would like to do the BBQ to fundraise for the school. To achieve this we will need man power for the shift on Friday night. If you can help please ring Kerry 3876860 or email [email protected] Invitation to Military Fathers Fathers working in the NZ Defence Force are invited to participate in a study investigating fathers views on parenting and raising children. Your contribution will provide valuable insight into fathering in the military context. If you are keen to take part in an interview and you have children between 0 18 years please contact Kelly Skipper, University of Auckland, email [email protected] APPROVED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND HUMAN PARTICIPANTS ETHICS COMMITTEE on 04/02//2013 for 3 years. Reference 2013/9063 BOT Elections Start thinking about who you would like to nominate, or perhaps you are interested yourself in being a member of our school BOT. Nominations forms are available from the school office or can be downloaded from our web page. Nominations close Thursday May 16th 2013 Voting papers sent by Tuesday May 21st 2013 Voting Day Thursday May 30th 2013 All nominations are to be sealed in an envelope and handed in to the school office no later than Thursday May 16th. House Sports We will be having House Sports every Tuesday afternoon. Could all children please bring suitable sports clothing and shoes to change into on these days? A drink bottle is also a good idea. Help Needed As a part of making a contribution to our cluster of schools we will be hosting the Waimarino Inter-school Fun Triathlon on Friday 5th April. This event has huge fundraising potential. The triathlon is a new one for me, and I would appreciate any advice or help anyone can give. If you are able to help out, we would really appreciate it. Please contact Marama or Rachel with your offers of support. FYI (Raetihi hosts Athletics, Orautoha hosts Cross Country, and Ohakune hosts Speeches)

Winter Sports Expression of Interest We would like to be able to put together a soccer team and netball teams to participate in Saturdays Winter Sport Competition in Taihape. Can you please email Marama, or pop into the office and let us know if you can help? Please indicate if you are available to manage or coach. NZEI Teachers' Paid Union Meeting - the Board of Trustees is releasing most of the teachers to attend their Paid Union Meeting (PUM) in Waiouru (This is a legal requirement) on Wednesday 20th March 2013 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Waiouru School will provide supervision for all students until the end of the day, however if you wish to pick your child up at lunch time you may. If you are able to help with supervision of our students on that afternoon please also let me know. If you have any questions or concerns come and see me (Marama) directly. Thank you all very much for understanding the need for our teachers to attend this meeting.
