End Term - Ans, Engineering Mechanics

This document contains exam questions and answers related to kinematics. It provides descriptive questions from Section B and C for a Kinematics exam. Section B asks to draw velocity and acceleration diagrams for a slider crank mechanism and find the velocity of slider B and angular accelerations of links AB and CD. Section C provides two optional questions on steering mechanisms, instantaneous centers of rotation in a slider crank mechanism, Paucellier straight line mechanism, compound epicyclic gear trains, relative acceleration equation for rigid bodies, and differences between rotary and radial engines.

2b) In a slider crank mechanism, the crank is 50 mm long and the connecting rod is 200 mm long. The crank makes an angle 450 with the inner dead centre. The crank is rotating with 1400 rpm in anticlockwise direction. Locate all the possible instantaneous centres of rotation for this. Find out the velocity of piston, angular velocity of connecting rod by instantaneous centre method. Also, find the velocity of centre of gravity of connecting rod which lies at 140 mm from small end of it. [4M]
