Ministry Experience:
Personal Statement:
I gave my life to Christ in the spring of 1983. I had grown up in a church but on a
night at a church revival meeting, I came to realize that I did not have a personal
relationship with Christ. Since that time, I have had struggles in my faith and have
renewed my commitment to Christ, but I look to that time as the true turning point of my
salvation.
God opened the doors for ministry for me while I was still very young and
brought me into contact with people who allowed me to work alongside them to serve
the Kingdom of God. My main area of giftedness involves being able to communicate
the gospel effectively and to teach and lead in the areas of discipleship and evangelism.
While in seminary, I was the recipient of the William R. Bright Award in Evangelism
and Discipleship.
I enjoy preaching and speaking and have in all of my ministries been a resource
for the senior pastor to use when he has been out of the pulpit. I have developed several
seminar type programs to share in local churches. “Everything you Need to Tell Your
Kids About Sex,” and “Hotline to Heaven: A Prayer Adventure” are two that I have put
together to train those within the church. I have been a camp speaker in many different
settings from Northern California to South Georgia and I love to use my gifts and talents
of communication.
In the fall of 2006 I developed a spiritual life campaign for LifeQuest Church
entitled “Dare to Pursue.” It was a challenge to pursue our relationship with God to new
depths. It involved personal daily devotions and weekend messages.
My true passion in ministry is speaking and small group connectedness. To
summarize my vision of ministry is to help people connect with God, grow in
relationship with one another and serve using their gifts and skill set to bring honor and
glory to Christ.
I believe that our entire lives are vitally entwined with the worldview that we
hold. The lenses through which world events, global tragedies, and our own personal life
circumstances are seen are shaped by how we view the spiritual realm of life. With that in
mind, we must be constantly aware that our lives are declaring our worldview in
whatever public forum we find ourselves on display.
As a Christian, I believe it is necessary to integrate our professional lives and our
Christian worldview. I believe one of the major issues facing the church in America
today is the fact that Christians compartmentalize instead of synchronize their spiritual
views. The primary goal of Christian leadership training is to help students understand
their worldview, integrate it within the context of their entire lives and then examine it
against the absolute truth of God’s Word.
As a teacher a primary role we must undertake is to help students integrate
biblical knowledge, Godly character and servant hearts into whatever field of study or
business life they are currently placed. One way to do this is through integrative projects
where practical application of classroom material is put into use in a real world situation.
Another aspect is simply studying men and women from various fields to see how their
particular worldview shapes the decisions of their lives. In this step it is important to
study both Christian and non-Christian worldviews to be able to understand the
reasoning behind decisions made and anticipate the stance taken on future issues that
arise.
It is vital that Christian leaders be shaped to not only understand a Christian
worldview, but also to understand the worldview of the non-Christian world. In so doing
we can begin to understand the crucial debates of our society, governments, corporations
and churches and be prepared to offer a Godly defense for scriptural teaching.
