As service members transition home from war they experience many changes in family, finance, and daily routines. Active duty service members come home to continued employment, benefits, and the support of a military community to overcome difficulties. For members of the National Guard and Reserves transition is much different. Unlike active duty service members, once the initial fanfare of homecoming subsides, returning Guard and Reserve members are typically left to face the increasingly stark reality of transitioning back to civilian life on their own. In todays struggling economy, many Guard and Reserve members are returning home to find jobs put on hold to serve their country no longer exist. To compound the problem, they are almost immediately dropped from military payroll and benefits and faced with finding employment in a struggling economy which impacts the financial stability of Guard and Reserve families. In response to these issues the National Guard Bureau, Corporate America Supports You (CASY), MSCCN, and DirectEmployers Association have partnered to launch the National Guard Employment Network. This employment program will provide training and support for each states National Guard Command, and for all for all of the National Guardsmen, Reserve military, and their families. It is the intent of this program to improve National Guard force stability by improving its members ability to seek, obtain, and retain civilian employment after they return from deployment. Through this program CASY and the MSCCN will provide: Training on, and use of, their Applicant Gateway and Tracking System for each state. CASY, MSCCN, and the National Guard Employment Support Teams will work together to provide employment readiness and job placement assistance to all National Guardsmen (both Army National Guard and Air National Guard) and their families in every state. Employment readiness support (resumes, job search strategies, interview skills, networking, personal branding, and more) for the National Guard Employment Teams in each state and in turn the National Guardsmen and their spouses. Job match program for the National Guardsmen, Reserves, veterans, and their spouses through the organizations core program the Applicant ~ Recruiter Connect. CASY and MSCCN are dedicated to giving our service members, veterans, and military spouses the skills, tools, and confidence they need for a lifetime of success. We are helping them bring financial stability to their families, and the communities in which they live, by focusing on programs that help strengthen the military family and helping them build their tomorrows.
