Regulations According to the competition regulations (cf. Art. 2, par. 3a) the Organising Committee for the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 shall decide the procedures for the Official Draw as well as the formation of groups.

Principles of the Official Draw: 1. The eight teams shall be divided evenly and placed into two Team pots 2. Brazil, as the host association shall be placed in Team pot 1 along with the three strongest teams according to the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking (November 2012): Spain (#1) Italy (#5) Uruguay (#11)

3. CAF, Japan, Mexico and Tahiti shall comprise Team pot 2 4. As host, Brazil shall be seeded as A1 5. As reigning world champion, Spain shall be seeded as B1 6. The two European teams shall not be drawn into the same group. Italy therefore shall be allocated to Group A when drawn 7. The two South American teams shall not be drawn into the same group. Uruguay therefore shall be allocated to Group B when drawn

Draw Procedure 1. In principle, teams will be drawn into groups in alternating fashion throughout the Official Draw (i.e. Group A then Group B, repeating). 2. Team pot 1 will be drawn first as follows: i. Beginning with Brazil, the yellow ball from Team pot 1 will be ceremoniously drawn followed by the yellow ball from Position pot A to allocate Brazils position as A1. Spain will follow, and the red ball from Team pot 1 ceremoniously drawn followed by the red ball from Position pot B to allocate Spains position as B1. The remaining two teams (Italy and Uruguay) in white balls will be randomly drawn next. In order to guarantee that teams from the same confederation do not get drawn into the same group, the following procedure shall apply: o o 3. When Italy is drawn, a ball from Position pot A will be drawn to allocate its position in Group A When Uruguay is drawn, a ball from Position pot B will be drawn to allocate its position in Group B

The first team selected will be drawn into Group A and its position determined by drawing a ball from Position pot A The second team selected will be drawn into Group B and its position determined by drawing a ball from Position pot B The third team selected will be drawn into Group A and its position determined by drawing a ball from Position pot A The fourth team selected will be drawn into Group B and its position determined by drawing a ball from Position pot B
