Lesson Plan Parts of The Body, and Annexes
Subject: English Group of students: Children Level of proficiency: Beginners fourth grade students, students from 7 to 9years old Number of students: 15 students per class ESL Teaching Method: Total physical response (TPR) Materials: Computer, video beam, music, dictionaries, markers, posters, books, etc. Topic for the class: Parts of the body Overall goal: Students will identify the parts of the body into the class in order to manage it in a real context.
1. Warm up: Objective: Students will identify most of the parts of the body into the classroom. Procedure: First of all, the teacher is going to paste some images with some words on the board (Annex 1) After, teacher and students are going to play a game called Fix and fast. In this game, the student who catches the ball is going to pass in front of the board and take a piece of paper that is in a bag in these pieces of paper they can find the parts of the body, the idea is that the student point this part in his/her own body. Then, she or he is going to match the correct image with the correct word. (Annex 2) After that, the teacher is going to ask if someone would like to change any. Finally, the teacher is going to pronounce each word and the students will repeat and point each part. EXAMPLE:

MATERIALS: Flashcards, bag with pieces of paper, board, ball, markers etc.
2. Presentation: Objective: students will learn the pats of the body. Procedure: First at all, the teacher is going to paste on the board a big body poster made before the class. (Annex 3) Then, the teacher is going to divide the class into two groups. After that, the teacher is going to give to each group three balloons where they can find some words which are the parts of the body. (Annex 4) After, they are going to exploit them. Continue with it, students have one minute to think about what part of the body is the word that they found in the balloons. After that, some students are going to paste the words in the body. (Annex 5). Next, the teacher is going to pronounce each word and the students are going to repeat after her and point each part. Finally, the teacher is going to paste a script of a song (Annex 6) and teacher and students are going to sing a song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc_kIWKLiD8) with this song the students are going to make the mimic in order to comprehend the topic. EXAMPLE OF THE POSTER:
Materials: Board, tape, balloons, video beam, computer, 3. Practice: Objectives: Students will reinforce the parts of the body through a game. Procedure: In this step, the teacher is going to play Memory game (Annex 7) with the students. First of all, the teacher is going to preserve the groups that he/she made for the presentation. After that, the teacher is going to explain how we can play this game. Next, the students are going to find the pairs in the memory game. Then, the group which finds the pair is going to pronounce the part of the body and get a point. Then, the teacher and the students are going to play a game called Simon says (annex 8). Then, the teacher is going to tell all the rules to be organized. In this game the teacher is going to say one part of the body and the students are going to touch this part. The idea is that students can identify these parts in order to acquire more vocabulary. Finally, each group is going to tell four parts of the body in English.
Materials: Board, memory game. 4. Production: (20 minutes) Objective: students will apply the knowledge about parts of the body in a photocopy. Procedure: The teacher is going to give a photocopy to each student (Annex 9). After that, each student is going to paint and cut the body parts and they will put the body parts together in another piece of paper that teacher gives them. Then, students are going to write seven parts of the body in the paper. Next, the teacher is going to make groups of three students and give another photocopy to each group (Annex 10). After that, students are going to complete the crossword according to the images that are in the photocopy. Finally, each group will touch three parts of their bodies and tell me what part it is. Materials: Paper, pencil, photocopies, dictionaries. 5. Homework: (10 minutes) Students are going to create a word search using different parts of the body learned in class.
