The launch of the first rockets also launched a new found enthusiasm and need for science, technology, engineering, and math. Students across the nation were amazed, motivated and inspired by the Space Race. July 20th, 1969, 50 million people around the world sat glued to their televisions and radios as mankind took the first step on the surface of the Moon, and American hearts swelled with pride. What if you had the magic to excite a high school student about math? What if you could give a junior high girl the determination to become a physicist?
