For Families:
Being active outside in nature is the best medicine! More and more people are experiencing problems related to anxiety, stress and depression than ever before. As it turns out, being outside in nature might be the best medicine. Research shows that being outside in nature affects our brains in a way that creates a calming experience and makes us better able to respond to the stresses of the daily grind. To find out more about the effects of nature on our health there is a great video by Richard Louv that explains this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e6_cY3-J3o
Combining the known positive effects of physical activity with being in nature makes the impact even more powerful. To find out what programs and opportunities are available near you, have a look at our newly revised Movin Around the Try County Guide http://www.healthunit.org/physact/tri-county_activities/lgl_activities_map.htm
