Fracture Analysis of (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) Composite Plates
Fracture Analysis of (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) Composite Plates
The objective of the present work is to investigate the Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) for benchmark problems for static and dynamic loading in composite plates having center, edge crack. Further the analysis is extended to CT specimen, plate with 3point bend, v-notch and double edge notch. In the static analysis SIFs are found for an isotropic material using singular and j-integral approach and it is inferred that the deviation is minimal. For the orthotropic material SIF is found out for the above specimens with Carbon UD/Epoxy, R Glass roving UD/epoxy, S 2 glass fabric/epoxy material properties.
The numerical analysis performed to predict the engineering properties of the multilayered plates and the stress-strain distributions for various lamination angles of continuous fiber composite laminate are described. The computations of the stress and strain values for the angle-ply-layered symmetric laminated plate with various lamination angles ()s of laminas under combined loads are carried out. The analyzed laminate plates have been composed with unidirectional layers that were made from composite materials. The numerical results in this work were calculated by use of ANSYS for analyzing of multilayered plates made from composite material.
Plate buckling of composite material is an important characteristic to be analyzed to predict its behavior under compressive loads. Most of the applications of composite materials qualify to be modeled as plate problems. In this work, an effort is made to predict the effects of fiber orientation on buckling loads of fiber reinforced composite materials using Mindlin theory and Classical plate theory which is modeled as eigenvalue problem. Further the study is extended to Nonlinear analysis of buckling of composite plates. The numerical results in this work were calculated by the use of ANSYS.
Kinematic analysis is an important part of mechanical design. Robotics has been providing an opportunity for developing new mechanism to perform various tasks. Parallel mechanisms are being researched for various applications. It is essential to know that the assembly behaves as intended and is free from singularities within the working environment. This project aims at developing a miniature Stewart-Gough platform to enable students of robotics to understand and analyze the 6-DOF parallel mechanism. Pro-Mechanica is an efficient CAD
simulation tool to analyze the kinematic behavior of an assembly. This report presents the details of modeling and simulation of a 6 degree of freedom (DOF) motion platform.
