2. Configuring applications
SG1000 is associated to a router ADSL BOX integrated in the local area network having a static public IP address enabling accessibility via GPRS tools. This router must be configured to support SG1000: ports 500 and 4500 for laptop PCs, and port 10504 for GPRS Remote Terminal Units. Laptop PCs are configured with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. GPRS S500 Remote Terminal Units, compatible with the 3.60 version and onwards, use a Public APN (IP addresses private dynamic or public dynamic). Each Remote Terminal Unit connects to SG1000 and maintains this connection active; thereupon, all telemetry and SCADA data are routed via this link.

Configuration
SG1000 configuration could be carried out On-line using a PC navigator via the Ethernet link. For initial system start-up, the user may use the default addresses and parameters without changing the configuration.
Depending on the local area network to which SG1000 is connected, change the addresses and verify in particular the link that corresponds to the ADSL BOX address.
1.2. DNS
For GPRS S500 Remote Terminal Units using literal addresses to communicate, the DNS server addresses must be configured in SG1000.

A specific password is assigned to every remote terminal unit; this GPRS password must be provided in the S500 configuration.
The action New Remote Terminal Unit allows to configure the identification number of the S500 Remote Terminal Unit, and to define its password enabling GPRS access; these parameters must coincide with the configuration of all S500 Remote Terminal Units. The IP address of each Remote Terminal Unit is defined in the address slot 192.168.200.xxx allotted to SG1000 (from 1 to 253); this address must be known to all services communicating with the Remote Terminal Unit in the GPRS network (other Inter-RTUs, SCADA Central Station).
Password defined by SG1000; The GPRS password must also be defined in the S500 local configuration

For wireless access to GPRS S500 Remote Terminal Units, it is necessary to configure the wireless PC users in SG1000 (username and password). The wireless connection of all PCs or Pocket PCs to SG1000 is protected by an authentication key configured for Windows in all PCs: provided by the user as a key made up of a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters (See: documentation Laptop PC).

In case of an error (unit number not defined, incorrect password or connection refused), an entry is logged in the SG1000 communication event log. This screen also enables checking the connection status of a laptop PC or PCs.
The information contained in the event logs serves to verify the correct functioning of SG1000 for 5 previous days. The communication event log records events relative to all connections made to SG1000. The diagnostics log records possible errors related to system functioning.
It is possible to ensure live monitoring of communication between SG1000 and GPRS S500 Remote Terminal Units, or wireless PCs, or to visualise disregarded data.
On providing the address of a wireless tool, this screen allows to execute the Ping of this address in order to verify its presence, and to execute a Traceroute to show the routing of IP data.
Updates made to the configuration and to SG1000 software result in a system reset. This screen also allows to read or to write the SG1000 configuration.
In case of system restart, as when there is a power failure, the user can initiate a SG1000 stop process that enables saving the event logs.
