TB Joshua Ministries HUMBLED FOR GODS SERVICE When Gods people communicate their experiences, let them always

remember to take note of what God has done to keep them humble as well as what God has done in favour to them and for their advancement. Pride is a sin in us by nature so we need to be cautioned and armed against it. God can use any situation you are passing through to humble you. What situation are you facing? It may be to injure your pride as a test of faith. God can use foolish things to test your faith. Paul said, There was given me a thorn in my flesh a messenger of satan to keep me from becoming conceited. (2 Corinthians 12:7). Spiritual burdens are ordered to cure spiritual pride. Paul was pained with a thorn - that is, a spiritual burden was ordered to cure his spiritual pride. Your situation may be to humble you. As a true Christian, the more sensibly we feel the hard times we pass through, the better improved we become in our prayer and our relationship with God. Challenges strengthen our relationship with God because they bring us to our knees.

Plotting your comeback

Albert Gumbo | 2012-08-20 09:19:00 Everybody loves a comeback kid, one of the most popular being Bill Clinton (former United States President). Not every person hits rock bottom and the definition of the term varies according to personal circumstance. Take the example of Charlie Sheen; rock bottom for him was being fired from his $1 million-an-episode job in Two and A Half Men comedy series for basically having way too much of a good time. He still had his millions to spend, as well as a few readily available company to spend it with. Then we have many a bankrupt business person at the mercy of creditors. For them, it is a terrible place to be. There is loss of face in the industry and with their peers and yet like Steve Jobs of Apple Inc, they inevitably bounce back because they still have the benefit of their ideas. Have you hit rock bottom? How far down is the bottom? When Zimbabwe hit rock bottom, with the worst statistics of anything in the world, it was with all due respect, still a better place to live than many countries in the world. Our rock bottom was not the same as Somalias rock bottom or closer to current events, Libyas or Syrias.

Today, a mere four years after our worst crisis, plane loads of business people are jetting in to Harare in search of investment opportunities. Without being overly optimistic, the fact remains that the one door in to Harare Airport is far busier than the three or more exit doors out of it, a reversal of the trend from 2008. In much the same way that young people forget about the sacrifices in the struggle for Independence, I am willing to bet that many a business person has already forgotten the empty supermarket shelves from a few years ago. Nothing is permanent. Not even death. Do not live with death is a maxim I learnt from a Zimbabwean stock exchange company. Death in this case, is giving up the will to fight. Trust me, I know it is easier said than done when the world seems to be conspiring against you, as one wrong thing follows another, none of them your fault. Synchronicity works in both ways, the more tough things are, the more they become a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is why the expression it never rains, but it pours was created. Staying with maxims, another thing that is easier said than done is: Life is about choices. And yet, if you still live and are not trapped on an aeroplane fifty feet away from a suicide bomber, you, too, can begin to make choices. The first step is to recognise and acknowledge your position: I have hit rock bottom. This is the point when the addict checks in to rehab, when the gambler walks away from another bet and the loser from another self-fulfilling prophecyinduced defeat. Stand up, get up, look in the mirror or bury your face in your hands, but say to yourself this is where I am today. Secondly, face up and acknowledge that today is not permanent. It never has been. Never will be. Walk away. Go back inside. Banish the negative thought, but start to take the minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day actions that might result in a reversal of the trend you find yourself in.

Spinning wheels in a quagmire is better than wallowing in it. A brick and couple of large stones under the spinning wheels are a step better. So swallow your pride, make that phone call, that appeal to a friend, boss, spouse, bank manager or the World Bank itself. Then present the plan of action. Synchronicity kicks in as you the universe begins to provide allies, almost miraculously, but really in an ordered fashion. Iron sharpens iron. An open door leads to a staircase which lands before an office where sits a venture capital company or a timely lead. I have quoted Wayne Gretsky before: You miss 100% of the shots you do not take. So take the shot. Life rewards action. Miss. Adjust your sights. Take it again and the target becomes clearer as your focus sharpens on what really matters, on the immediate, mid-term and long-term goals. Have I not told you about Colonel Sanders desperately searching for someone, anyone to buy in to his chicken recipe? What of Nelson Mandela on day one at Robben Island at the start of life imprisonment? Steve Jobs was fired from his own company and feeling that he had failed the next generation of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs! The end of the road may just be the beginning to greater things. In official US government policy, Nelson Mandela the terrorist became Madiba the much loved icon with Bill and Hillary Clinton still dropping in, just to say: Happy birthday, Tata! Madiba smiles, the world marvels and prays for him to enjoy a few more years of a free life. The road to economic freedom can seem just as long. Why should you be any different? So you are in a slump right now, but Zimbabwe is picking up. She is lifting her gaze and soon will command a place of honour among the nations of the world and not be the subject of a disciplinary hearing. As Zimbabwe recovers, so too do you, bound together in a journey to greatness. We have been here before, droughts, Chimurenga 1, Chimurenga 2, Chimurenga 3 and now just light that candle and take your step. Just one step and the darkness will recede.
