Ran Noch Ocean Brochure

Rannoch Ocean rowing boats are the result of years of experience and months of exhaustive research, design, testing and input from many experienced ocean rowers. The solo and pairs boats share the same design ethos, are self-righting without ballast and have similar aesthetics. The "Regatta" models are constructed using carbon and E-glass over a 3D hexagonal foam core with a gelcoat finish to the outside.

Rannoch Ocean Rowing Boats

Rannoch Ocean rowing boats are the result of years of experience and months of exhaustive research, design, testing and input from many experienced ocean rowers. The solo and pairs boats share the same design ethos, are self- righting without ballast and have similar aesthetics. However, the pairs boat has more volume and a different deck layout to allow for the extra weight of two crew and their provisions. Our boats are finished to a generic one design specification, allowing us to provide you with a product that we are proud of and a product that youll see is of the best quality. Furthermore, one that will look after you well and be as equally competitive as every other boat from Rannoch Ocean. Charlie Pitcher, Ocean Rower

Phil Morrison is an internationally acclaimed naval architect and regarded as one of the best in the business, having been doing it for over 50 years. His past projects cover a variety of disciplines from the Americas Cup to world class dinghy designs, and now almost all existing ocean rowing boat designs in the world today are from his drawing board. Since 2008, Phil has been working on various designs with Charlie which culminated in JJ, the record breaking solo boat and continues with the new Rannoch designs.

Progression in Design

JJ (above) was constructed for Charlie Pitcher in 2009 using carbon and kevlar over a foam core with E- glass laid up on the inside. All her internal framing is laminated plywood. She is smaller than most other rowing boats and does not have a traditional keelson. In addition, she is lighter than all her contempories and has her main cabin forward. Rannoch boats are the natural progression from JJ and are built from CNC machined moulds that do not require any fairing. The Regatta models are constructed using carbon and E-glass over a 3D hexagonal foam core with a gelcoat finish to the outside. With a simple, but effective interior structure, the finished boats are much lighter and faster than JJ, but just as strong.

JJ was the result of an all new approach to designing an ocean rowing boat from a brief that allowed me to draw what I regarded as the ideal boat for crossing oceans. Since Charlies record breaking row in 2010, we have taken all the best aspects from this design to produce what is arguably the most advanced ocean rowing boat in the world. The pairs boat is simply a bigger version of this well developed project. Phil Morrison, Naval Architect

Becoming a Rannoch Owner

How to order your Rannoch boat and reserve a build slot
The Order Process 10% deposit with order (non refundable) 30% before moulding 50% before fit out 10% on collection ex works. 1. When we receive your 10% deposit for a boat, all agreed costs are frozen until completion and we give you a reservation and start date for the construction. This transaction allows you concentrate on details and choosing the right options for your boat without missing a build slot. This deposit is non-refundable. 2. We will then ask you to confirm colour options and any other necessary details through correspondence before the start date of your build. When we receive your 30% interim payment, the moulding begins and your new Rannoch boat starts to take shape. 3. Whilst the hull is under construction, we will then ask you to confirm final options on the equipment and accessories. Your final list is signed off and on receipt of your 50% interim payment, we allocate all the equipment to your boat and commence the fit out to complete the full order for your boat. 4. When you come to our base and inspect the boat, once you are happy, the remaining 10% is due before taking full ownership of the boat and taking her away. This hand over takes some time as we need to run over all the equipment and make sure you are happy how everything works. It is even possible to go rowing and check everything in the water or use our base as your preparation period before taking your boat away. We want to make sure you are satisfied with your product and our service. Terms and Conditions Rannoch reserves the right to change the specification and costs at any time, but costs will be fixed once an order has been placed. The specification may change if equipment models are updated/discontinued/superceded and/or event organiser's rules change forcing Rannoch to keep Regatta boats in class. Rannoch are constantly researching, sourcing and testing the best equipment for your rowing needs. [Standard British Marine Federation Terms and Conditions apply].
