This document provides instructions for building a low-cost grinding wheel from an old auto-differential assembly. The grinder can accommodate wheels up to 12 inches in diameter and can be built as either a floor or bench model using ordinary tools. Additional details are given on assembly, dimensions, safety guards, and drive systems. An indicator is also described for helping reset the tailstock on a lathe to the exact zero position after turning tapers.
