Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies MMS 2012-14/PGDM 2012-2014 Placement Policy

1. The student will have to fulfill all of the following criteria to be eligible to take part in the placement process : a. b. c. d. Have no existing backlog in all the previous semesters Have a minimum of 80% attendance in the current semester Have passing grades in the Beyond Classroom initiatives (Pls. refer Annexure 1) Completing the Mock Interviews / Placement preparatory workshop

2. In addition to above, students will be disqualified from the placement process for the following reasons: a. Incorrect data on resume b. Complain from an organization regarding misbehavior during the process c. Rejecting an offer from an organization d. Trying to maintain direct contact with the Company of the Institute e. Violating the rules regarding the institute behavior f. Staying absent for processes for which they are shortlisted. g. More than 5 rejects deemed to be placed 3. Student receiving one placement offer will have to move out of the placement process providing opportunity to others. 4. Students who wish to opt for their own placements should give their declaration before the start of the Final Placement Process. Students opting for own placement after receiving the offer through campus placement process will not be allowed to change. 5. No choice of company, role, position, salary or location can be promised to any student in the function / stream chosen. 6. The placement office alongwith the faculty panel will shortlist student CVs to be sent to companies for Interviews / Selection process on the basis of their academic performance, participation in activities and adherence to the code of conduct and performance in Mock Interview sessions. 7. In addition to above, shortlisting of CVs to be sent to companies will be based on the minimum qualifying criteria laid down by the specific company such as percentage in academics up till graduation, cgpa / grade / percentage in MMS / PGDM etc. 8. All Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) should be routed through the Placement Office. Students accepting the PPOs should submit a copy of the offer letter to the Placement Office. 9. Students interested in exploring their individual placements independently need to route all external correspondence through the Placement Committee and also submit offer letter for Institute records 10. Students who have to travel to attend interviews will have to do so at their own cost.

11. The decision of the Institute Director and Head Placements in any matter related to Placement shall be final
and abiding. Any student found violating the Placement Policy and Guidelines will be out of the Campus Placement Process.

Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies MMS 2012-14/PGDM 2012-2014 Placement Guidelines
1. The students should prepare their CVs in the format given by the Placement Department. 2. The Student Co-ordinator in charge of placement activities should enable submission of resumes along with student database in excel sheet format by end of September for the academic year. 3. Students are required to be dressed formally and should follow code of conduct during Pre-Placement Talk and GD / PI. Dress Code for males and females being plain light shirts with trousers, tie/scarf and blazers with formal shoes. Jeans and Sports Shoes are not allowed. 4. Code of conduct Be Punctual Maintain discipline Latest hard copy of updated resume for campus placements. Synopsis of Summer Projects Institute letter as and when applicable for the company would be issued. Background homework about the companys business and expansion plans should be done by the students to get a good picture about the company. Students must carry their ID-Cards for the PPT / GD / PI processes whether on-campus or offcampus Students are expected to appear well in advance for the PPT as well as GD / PI on the specified dates and time by the company. 5. The students attending the selection process must clear all the doubts and queries regarding job profile, etc. during the process of PPT/Interview.

6. The students who leave Mumbai during the Placement Season and miss opportunities for interviews arranged through campus would be responsible for their own placements. 7. The students should maintain transparency with the Placement Department. 8. The placement coordination has to be done by the students of the placement committee.
