Action: Direct site layout for medium girder bridge. Conditions: In a classroom or at a fixed bridge training site, with a wet or dry gap, given medium girder bridge erection set, string, carpenters level, line level, pegs, sledge hammer, 100 tape measure, shovels, rakes, and type of bridge to be constructed. Standard: Directed site layout for the medium girder bridge, ensuring placement of the centerline, key construction points, roller beam setup, without degradation to the environment and the completion of the medium girder bridge design proforma sheet without error.

Safety: Possible hazards include back injuries; smashed fingers, hands and feet; falling off the bridge site or embankment and dangers of working around heavy lifting and loading equipment. Safety will be monitored and reinforced throughout construction of the site layout. Proper lifting and carrying of components and placement of hands and feet during construction. Never throw tools or components. Damage to components and tools will occur which can cause accidents. Environmental: Degradation to the surrounding area. Risk: Low.

Bridges constructed on this type of soil will require packing to cover a 3ft (0.9m) area under ETP to spread weight of bridge. Watch settling during crossing of traffic, and increase packing if needed. Packing material required is 3in x 36in lumber, and the height of packing will be the minimum necessary to keep ETPs from touching bank.
