On behalf of the Montana National Guard 484th Military Police Unit, Sergeant DeShawn Lewis (center) and Sergeant Bryan Benz (at right) presented Jackie Bird of the St. Marie Womens Club with a matted and framed National Guard print for her exceptional support of our soldiers. As of September 30th, the St. Marie Womens club has sent 1,769 care packages ($17,108.75 pounds worth) at a postage cost of $20,365.90. They started this project in October of 2007. Now entering a seventh year, this Veterans Day (Monday, November 11th) they will be once again packing boxes to send to our deployed soldiers. Anyone wishing to help is welcome; be at the St. Marie Town Hall at 10:00 a.m. on Veterans Day. Anyone who has a name and address of a loved one or friend serving overseas is encouraged to get this information to Jackie so they can receive goodie boxes.
Much Appreciated!
At first glance, the print resembles a jigsaw puzzle that has been matted and framed. But a closer inspection reveals that it is actually thousands of little photo images of the National Guard in action.

In this hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy for audiences of all ages, directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!), two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history - and get the turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.
Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvels Thor and Marvels The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
The Glasgow Recreation Department is hosting its 22nd Annual Turkey Trot this Saturday, November 9th featuring prizes and drawings galore! I like to think of it as our annual fun-raiser, says GRD Director Jory Casterline. And hes rounded up some fantastic giveaways thanks to the local businesses that have graciously donated to what also promotes good health in the community. Some of the big prizes include two kids mountain bikes (purchased through cash donations from various businesses) and a couple of toddlers bikes compliments of Farm Equipment Sales and Glasgow Elks Lodge #1922. Ag Land Co-op kicked in a team registration for the Milk River Catfish Classic. There are two $50 gift certificates to Durum Restaurant. How would you like to win an evening in the Hot Tub Suite at the Cottonwood Inn? Reynolds and Albertsons each kicked in a half a dozen frozen turkeys, making a dozen in all. Plus there are hoodies (Alleys Palace, Zerbes, Case), hats (Expressions, Nemont Telephone), oil changes (Glasgow Auto Safety Center and TireRama), lots of gift certificates (4-$25 certificates from Pizza Hut alone) and the list goes on and on. Turkey Trot Registration for the mile-and-a-half fund run is tomorrow morning at the Glasgow Civic Center from 8:30 to 9:30 with the race starting at 10:00. Cost is just $10 per person with a non-perishable food item or $12 per person without a food item. There are also prizes if you smoke the turkey (beat the turkey to the finish line!). The race starts and ends at the Civic Center. Also, the turkey will hang around following the run if youd like to capture a nice Thanksgiving photo with your family and/or kids something for Grandpa and Grandma to hang on the fridge. Runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to participate. Wed like to see more kids involved in the Turkey Trot, thats for sure, says the GRD Director. The community really comes forward and donates some fine prizes, and we really appreciate this. So dont delay, get to the 22nd Annual Turkey Trot this Saturday. Jory says the prizes will all be divvied out and everything will be wrapped up in time to go cheer on the Scotties as they take on the Fairfield Eagles on Scotty Field with a Scotty Booster Tailgate Party at noon and a 1:00 kickoff.

The Chicago Bears outlasted the Green Bay Packers, who lost QB Aaron Rodgers to a broken left collarbone, 27-20. Winning the Glasgow Reds Monday Night Football books for $50 each were Lenny Knaff and Ed Tipton. This game has a huge impact on the fantasy football players as those who have Rodgers as their main gun might be missing him for few weeks; he may be shooting for a return Thanksgiving Day at Detroit, and while that may be possible, doctors said its vital that the injury be completely healed before he is cleared.
Interesting little tidbit here, this marks 21 years, 346 games and two Lambeau Field renovations that have passed since a Green Bay Packers quarterback sat out two consecutive games. The last time it happened, Don Majkowski was sidelined with torn ligaments in his left ankle. But a strapping young buck named Brett Favre was there to steal his job and hold it for the next 15 years. Playing on Veterans Day will be a clash of southern Florida teams as the Miami Dolphins visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jobs for Montanas Graduates (JMG) hosted a fun night at the Childrens Museum of Northeast Montana with the older students having just as much fun as the younger ones. Above, Autumn Hopkins reads Pigs to the Rescue to a couple of attentative kids. About 10 children were present with around 14 high school students working various shifts. Jill Page is the JMG advisor. In other JMG happenings, the class has put out Pennies for Patients boxes you will see around town during November in the fight against leukemia & Lymphoma. If you should see one of these boxes and have a little loose change in your pocket, your help is appreciated!
The Fort Peck Hotel is once again hosting wounded warriors. Two different groups of hunters will be in Fort Peck during November and everyone is encouraged to come out and meet the hunters, thank them for their service or just talk hunting. The first group will arrive on Veterans day weekend with the second group arriving the following weekend. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and a pot luck supper at 7p.m. on each of the following evenings: Monday, November 11th and Saturday November 16th.

Bowling for Vicks Lanes in Nashua Mens League, Jerry Burt was knocking on the door of a perfect 300 game. With 11 strikes in a row and that one strike in the final frame was all that was needed... oh, that darn seven pin! Jerry ended up with a 299, a fine effort indeed, but it goes to show how elusive the perfect 300 game can be. With previous games of 237 and 235, he had a solid 700 series with a 771. Teammates that evening were Heath Headly, Cicil Ozark and Rick Viste, and they swept the Glasgow Stockyards (Larry Bergstrom, Matt Ritchie, Daryl Schlabs and Ryan Faulkenstern) all four games.
Great pass protection is what the Scotties are hoping to execute again this week as Jason Thibault (#5) got just that in Glasgows 30-7 victory over Huntley Project in the first round of the Class B Football Playoffs. Kick-off with Fairfield is at 1:00 Saturday afternoon from Scotty Field. There was plenty of room for more Scotty fans in last weeks game, so hopefully there will be more there to help cheer the Scotties on to victory and keep marching through the playoffs into semifinal action.

An Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun in one hand and pulling a massive buffalo bull with the other. He says to the waiter, Me want coffee. The waiter says, Sure chief, coming right up. He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee. The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp, turns and shoots the buffalo with the shotgun, causing parts to splatter everywhere, then walks out. The next morning the Indian returns. He has his shotgun in one hand and pulling another big buffalo bull with the other. He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter, Me want coffee. The waiter says, Whoa! Were still cleaning up the mess you made yesterday. What was that all about, anyway? The Indian smiles and proudly says, Me training for seat in U.S. Congress: Come in, drink coffee, shoot the bull, leave mess for others to clean up, disappear for rest of day. Push Harder! the guy shouted to his wife while she was in labor, Push, push, push! Why, you rotten, no-good-for-nothing cheapskate! she screamed back at him. A bit harsh, the guy thought to himself. After all, it wasnt his fault the car broke down on the way to the hospital. The Firemen were trying to rescue an Irishman from the 10th floor of a burning building. A Fireman shouts, Jump and well catch you in this blanket! The Irishman replies, I dont trust you, just lay it on the ground! Tom had this problem of getting up late in the morning and was always tardy for work. His boss was mad at him and threatened to fire him if he didnt do something about it. So Tom went to his doctor who gave him a pill and told him to take it before he went to bed. Tom slept well and in fact beat the alarm in the morning. He had a leisurely breakfast and drove cheerfully to work. Boss, he said, The pill actually worked! Thats all fine and dandy, said the boss, but where were you yesterday?
