What Do You Enjoy Doing in Your Spare Time?

While previous generations of children generally had healthier eating habits and lifestyles, today many children in many countries have developed poor diets and sedentary lifestyles due to factors like busy parental schedules, fast food consumption, and excessive technology use. This change negatively impacts children's health by increasing risks for diseases and reducing opportunities for physical activity and social development at an early age. However, parents can help mitigate these risks by prioritizing home cooked nutritious meals, encouraging outdoor activities, and limiting recreational screen time.

IELTS Topic: In many countries today, the eating habits and lifestyle of children are different from those of previous generations Some people say this has had a negative effect on their health To what e!tent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? 0ecently, the eating habits and lifestyle of children has drastically changed from those of previous generation and is a major concern in many countries today causing negative effects primarily on health. 'oor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle caused by the continuous evolution of high technology are some of the contributing factors on the increasing health problems worldwide. In this essay, I will discuss the above%mentioned issue and the danger it brings along. With regards to eating habits, providing health and nutritious foods to the children are the parents( primary responsibility. In the case of children in the past for e$ample, if only one parent is wor#ing to provide for the financial needs of the family, the other parent would have ample time to prepare and select appropriate nutritious foods foods belonging to the food groups go, glow and grow such as rice, meat, mil# and vegetables and pay the re2uired attention the children need. "he parents act as a role model by showing to their #ids, that they too, eat healthy foods and ma#ing sure they eat balanced diet. *lso, they promote active lifestyle by spending a lot of time outdoors such as having picnics and engaging to sports as a form of e$ercise, this ma#ing their lives less sedentary. However, living in a busy and highly sophisticated community greatly affects the interest of the children today, For instance, due to the fast%paced life, specifically in the #ey citied of the country, parents are too busy to prepare home%coo#ed foods. Fast food chains has been the solution to that problem. 'arents resort to buying foods instead of personally coo#ing healthy meals at home. *lthough these establishments ma#e our lives easier, what we are not aware of is that these unhealthy foods can

raise the ris# for cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, hypertension and stro#e. *nother, is the influence of technology. -evices such as cellular phones, "3, computer and other consoles has ta#en the attention of these youngsters instead of focusing on educational activities which can be a huge boost to their formative years. "he children un#nowingly becoming antisocial, develop violent behaviors and a sedentary lifestyle by engaging to these #ind of activities, instead of developing their psychosocial and cognitive s#ills through fre2uent interaction with different people and utili4ing their problem%solving strategies at an early age. In conclusion, this essay e$plained how and why today(s generation of food preference and lifestyle has changed. In my point of view, parents should inculcate to the minds of their children the habit of eating healthy foods and its benefits and organi4e activities to be done to stay healthy and fit. &ports and games are very important for us. "hey #eep us healthy and fit. "hey offer us a change from the monotony of daily life. It is a useful means of entertainment and physical activity. &ports and games help in character building. "hey give us energy and strength. &ports and games are means of mental and physical growth. -uring sports we come to learn many things. We learn how to maintain mental balance in the midst of hopes and despair. "hey ma#e us learn how to tac#le the difficult situation. &ports develop a sense of friendliness. "hey develop in us team spirit. "hey help in developing mental and physical toughness. "hey shape our body and ma#e it strong and active. "hey give us energy and strength. "hey remove tiredness and lethargy. "hey improve blood circulation. "his improves our physical well%being. &ports and games improve our capability. "hey improve our efficiency. Either study or wor# alone ma#es us e$haust. We remain no longer efficient to do any wor#. &ports remove our mental e$haustion. &ports are integral part of education. Education without sports is incomplete. 5eeping their value in life, children are taught some sorts of games in the very early stage in school. "hese days1 sports are a part of academic curricula. &ports are particularly important for the youth. "hey help in their physical and mental growth. "hey contribute in the formation of character. "hus sports help in career growth also. &ports and games give us opportunity to grow in life. "hese days1 sports have been commerciali4ed. "hey have become a good means of earning. "he sports person who does well in sports is showered with name, fame and wealth.
