Activity Time
Vocabulary: Santa Claus, Christmas, present, stocking, Christmas tree, bell, ornament, candy canes, angel, snowman, snowflakes, reindeer, Christmas lights, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Sentence structure: "I wish you a Merry Christmas and a hapy New Year". We will learn the Reindeer hokey pokey song "I would like a/an (object) for Christmas". where the students will be using the Xmas vocab "Santa claus is a fat man that laughs a lot". they have learned. We will also be making Activities: Reindeer antlers and a red nose that will be used We are going to make dangling reindeers that we can hang on a Christmas tree. by the students during their song for the Xmas We are also going to start colouring in a Christmas tree with crayons. We are going to use nice bright show. festive colours and then when we are done, we are going to paint over it, making a nice picture. Songs: We are mostly going to pay attention to our Christmas show song, but there will be time to sing nice Christmas songs like: "Jingle Bells" and "We wish you a merry Christmas". Games: We are going to play a really advanced memory game. We are going to sit in a row and start woth the first student saying what he or she would like for Christmas, example a bike. The second student should then say: "I want a bike and a truck" for Chhristmas, adding his own toy to his friend's. The third student then say:"I want a bike, truck and doll for Christmas".
Phonics
Review In phonics this week we will be focusing on Xmas vocab and working on pronouncing and spelling it. We will play several games to reinforce this learning, such as musical chairs with flashcards and splat. We are going to do some Xmas themed worksheets where the students have to fill in the missing vowels. Another worksheet we are going to do is a Xmas word search which develops reading and spelling. New (letters/sounds/vocabulary) The new sounds and vocab are listed above under the vocabulary section.
Writing Practice This week we will spend 20 minutes continuing to practice in our handwriting booklets, as always focusing on correct letter technique and shape.
Sight Words Sight words this week are: Over, in, there, here. I will be using these in general instructions.
Dear Parent! Wow! It is the festive season already, time has fly. We can't wait for the Christmas show and hope you will come and share this experience with us.
