Projects and Presentations

Quantum Field Theory
Under: Duration: Venue: Summary: Prof. Dr. Bjorn Garbrecht (Junior Professor, Institut f ur Theoretische Teilchenphysik und Kosmologie, RWTH Aachen, Germany) 11 weeks (May - July 2012) Institut f ur Theoretische Teilchenphysik und Kosmologie, RWTH Aachen, Germany We worked on basics of the Quantum Field Theory and Quantizations. Also towards the end I tried to gure out the zeroth order solutions to the Functional Schrodinger Equation, under the guidance of Dr. Garbrecht. 2

Ostrogradski Theorem
Under: Duration: Venue: Summary: Dr. Mohd. Sami (Director, Department of Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi) 4 weeks (May - June 2011) Department of Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi We studied about the instabilities that can be introduced in a system if Lagrangian is an explicit function of higher order of the generalized coordinates (eg. d2 q/dt2 and higher). We also learnt to stabilize these systems by applying constraints.

Oscillations and Maintained Oscillators

Under: Duration: Venue: Summary: Dr. Pratibha Jolly (Principal, Miranda House, University of Delhi) 7 weeks (May - July 2010) D S Kothari Centre, Miranda House, University of Delhi We can easily counter various examples of oscillations in our day to day life. The aim was to study the nature of those oscillations using computer based experimental setups, so as to predict their behavior using a set of rules or equations. With the help of those predictions we tried to design a system to maintain any given oscillator at any particular amplitude or frequency of our wish. We tried rst by mechanical forces, but because of being very irregular and chaotic in nature those forces dont do very well with maintenance. So we switched later on the magnetic forces to maintain a given oscillator. By the end of our session we were able to make certain setups to maintain a given oscillator much eciently.

Technical Skills
Familiar with certain programming languages like C/C++, Octave, PHP etc. Familiar with software packages like Mathematica, MATLAB, LaTeX etc. Worked on LabVIEW software.
