G (Exploratory) Course Description: This Module is an exploratory and introductory course which leads to Computer Hardware Servicing National Certificate Level II (NC II). It covers four common competencies that a Grade 7/Grade 8 Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) student ought to possess, namely: 1) using and maintaining tools, equipment and paraphernalia; 2) performing mensuration and calculation; 3) practicing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures and; 4) interpreting technical drawing and plans. The preliminaries of this exploratory course include the following: 1) discussion on the relevance of the course; 2) explanation of key concepts relative to the course and; 3) exploration on career opportunities. CONTENT Introduction Basic concepts and common competencies in Computer Hardware Servicing Relevance of the course Career opportunities CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of basic concepts, underlying theories and common competencies in computer hardware servicing. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learner independently demonstrates basic concepts, theories and common competencies in computer hardware servicing as prescribed in the TESDA Training Regulation. LESSON 1: USE AND MAINTAIN HAND TOOLS CONTENT CONTENT STANDARD Hand tools in computer hardware servicing Equipment in computer hardware servicing The learner demonstrates understanding of hand tools and equipment and accomplishing required forms in computer hardware servicing.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learner independently prepares hand tools and equipment and accomplish the required forms in computer hardware servicing.

Inspect hand tools and equipment received in computer hardware servicing Check list of tools and equipment to be requested per job requirement Inspect the condition of all the requested tools and equipment Assess the hand tools and equipment for proper operation and safety *LO 3. Use and maintain hand tools, measuring instrument and equipment Perform safety procedures in using hand tools and equipment Follow procedures in cleaning and tightening simple tool repair Identify malfunction, unplanned or unusual events and report to property custodian
LESSON 2: PERFORM CALCULATION AND MENSURATION Types of components and objects to be measured: Memory Data storage capacity The learner demonstrates understanding of concepts and underlying principles in performing measurements and calculation. The learner consistently observes precautionary measures and responds to risks and hazards in the workplace. *LO 1.
