General aim:

Specific Aim: .. Un dderstand and master the use of Direct and indirect speech in writing and speaking

Presentation: The teacher will make students practice the conjugation of the following irregular verbs by explaining that each irregular verb has two tense verb forms present tense and past tense:

Past Tense caught bought wrote went spoke

He will explain that sometimes the present tense verb changed top past tense when changing from direct to indirect speech.For example: The teacher said , I catch birds. Will change into : : The teacher said that he caught birds. My kite is blue, said the tall boy. Will change into : The tall boy said that his kite was blue. I love polite children,: said my mother. Will change into : My mother said that she liked polite children. Now, lets see how these sentences change. Have a try: 1. The Principal said, The boys and girls like games. Will change into : The principal said that boys and girls liked gamed. 6. I want to jump, said the frog. Will change into : The .. that it wanted to jump. 7. My Mom advises me to drive cautiously, said the bus driver. Will change into : The bus driverhis Mom advised him to drive cautiously. Once the teacher is sure that the stu dents have assimilated every nuance of the sub skill he will assign a work sheet for practice.
