Jacket Loadout Analysis

The loadout analysis of the massive Exxon Harmony jacket required extensive engineering efforts and computer time. A new computer program was written to model the jacket, barge, skidway support, and foundation as separate but interacting structural systems. The program condensed the flexibility matrices of each system and combined them to calculate reaction forces at interfaces, which were then used as loads in stress analyses of each structural component accounting for barge flexibility.

Title:

LOADOUT ANALYSIS OF EXXON HARMONY JACKET

Abstract:

The loadout analysis of EXXON 'Harmony' jacket of an immense size requires a great deal of engineering efforts and computer time. to effecti ely perform an e!tensi e series of stress analysis" a ne# computer program has $een #ritten to deal #ith the %acket" $arge" skid#ay support and foundation as separate structural systems. The jacket" $arge" skid#ay support and foundation fle!i$ility matrices ha e $een condensed to those of interface nodes in $et#een separate systems and then the condensed matrices ha e $een com$ined to find reaction forces at interfaces. the reaction forces are then used as applied loads to perform stress analysis for each of structural system #ith uncondensed stiffness matri!. &arge $allast plans ha e $een de eloped and include the effect of $arge fle!i$ility.
