Lindseys Letter
Happy Friday! This has been a very productive week. I loved seeing the kids in the Christmas program. They all looked amazing and did a fantastic job! Weve been reviewing our school-wide PBS expectations this week as we have had a few problems with behaviors. Its been a bit of a challenge to get back into the swing of things, but I think we are up and running now. Thanks again for all your support! Famous Missourians We have started our research projects for our Famous Missourians. I will be sending a rubric home next Friday that gives more detail on what you can do to help at home. Please do not send anything other than research to school yet. I still need to set the expectations for speeches and boards, but I want students to focus on the biographies for now. You can be helping gather research materials and pictures from home. We started Google Docs yesterday that students can access from home. This is a great way to work on the project from home and school. Math Facts: We took a timed multiplication and division test this week. This was our first mixed math fact timed test. The students struggled for the most part. Please help them practice their multiplication and division facts up to twelve. We will continue with the mixed review timed test once a week. The expectation is to get 90/100 in five minutes. Students who are not making progress will have to practice during recess. Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences are just one month away. I will be sending out the information for sign-ups next week. These conferences are a bit different than the first time. Tuesday, February 25 will be student led conferences. This is a great way to have students show you specific skills we have been working on. They will lead you through 3-4 activities and youll meet with me very briefly. Thursday, February 27 I will offer traditional sit-down conferences for those of you who have questions or concerns. The Wax Museum will be held Thursday, February 27 after the traditional conferences. Please sign up for whichever type of conference you feel best meets the needs of your child. Reading Log Please remember that reading logs are a part of their overall reading grade. Students who do not have their complete 100 minutes read are required to do so during recess. Students who turn reading logs in late receive a 10% dock in grade for that assignment.
