Guided Reading Rubric

This document provides a rubric for assessing guided reading performance from 1 to 4. A score of 1 reflects a below basic understanding of simpler details and some complex ideas with help. A score of 2 means the student has no major errors with simpler details but errors with complex ideas. A 3 represents proficient comprehension without major mistakes. A 4 signifies advanced inferences beyond what was explicitly taught.

inferences and applications that go beyond what
was taught (read).
(Proficient) No major errors or omissions regarding
3 any of the information (simple or complex) that was
explicitly taught.

(Basic) No major errors or omissions regarding the
simpler details and processes but major errors or
omissions regarding the more complex ideas and
processes.

1 (Below Basic) With help, a partial understanding of


some of the simpler details and processes and some
of the more complex ideas and processes.
