9 13 COMMUNITY PROFILE Culis Family Family Members: Ruel Culis Rosabel Culis Cedrick Clark Culis Raiza Denise Culis Head Wife of the head First child Second child

This exposure aids me to improve my skills in helping other people. It also improves my interaction skills with others. What we have done in this area will help the family to improve their community. It was such a great experience for a simple health teaching to make a change in their community. I have learned so many things that I know will benefit me as an individual. Although we encounter hardships such as long distance walking in the market, the very hot weather, the high expenses, the presence of animal waste, all our efforts are worth it because we know that it is for the betterment of the community. Aside from these hardships, we also encounter great experiences; we come across on meeting new people, living with them in a small amount of time, learning to cook and budgeting, etc. This was a memorable event in our last year as a student. After this duty, I have come to appreciate on what I have. I am grateful that my chosen path has a good cause. It makes me realize that Im lucky enough that I am now a graduating student. I recognize that not all of us can study especially in college. Like in the community, most of the parents are only high school graduate. But they still do anything for their family to live a better life. I am glad for this exposure and I hope that we make an improvement in enriching the wellness of the people in this community.

JAN. 6 10 Patients Initials: R.D. Age/Gender: 29 / Female Diagnosis: Gunshot wound left cheek REFLECTION I am delighted in taking care of patient R.D. She was a beautiful married woman who experienced a traumatic tragedy. Her husband is a policeman, and they have two children. According to her, while she was in the market, her husband had encountered an unknown guy in which they ended up in both struggling to have the gun. The unknown guy had clicked the gun and unfortunately, she was the one who got shot. Luckily, she didnt end up being paralyzed in the face. I am amaze of how strong she was. During the times that Ive handled her, she was now getting better. She is very kind and she thanked God that Hed given her another chance to live. Because according to her, after being shot she immediately became unconscious and she was bleeding heavily. But because of her faith and love to God, He saved her. She was given another opportunity to live her life with her loved ones. When we become members of Gods family, a death-to-life transformation moves us from being selective about whom we love to be free and unconditional with our love. You may hesitate, wondering whether you will have strength to live for God and to love like Hes asking you to love, but dont worry God will give you what you need once you make the choice to live for him and become a member of His family. Like patient R.D., she believes that God loves her and made her with purpose. Committing yourself completely to God shows that were saved and we are claimed to be part of Gods family.

Jan. 13 - 17 Patients Initials: A.E. Age/Gender: 19 / Female Diagnosis: G1P1 (1001) Pregnancy Uterine Delivered, Preterm live baby boy 35 weeks via NSD REFLECTION This week, my patient is a nineteen-year-old female who delivered a preterm baby boy via normal spontaneous delivery. Even in her young age, she was still grateful that God had given her such a wonderful blessing. At first, she was afraid in telling her parents about it, but eventually, theyve learn to accept it. The baby is very healthy with no complications. Fortunately, her boyfriend stayed with her and will do his responsibility as the father. For patient A.E., being a mother is a wonderful role in being part of a family. Its the mother who mostly molds their child in becoming a better person. She prayed that as she begins to start her own family that God will guide her and will blessed her child to grow up healthy and to have a better future. God had already planned our lives. But it is by our own choice or actions on how it does turn out to be. He gave as free will to use His gift for us (life) to become whatever we like and make a better living of it. But it also depends on us if we choose to do good or bad. Patient A.E. doesnt regret on giving birth to her child. Although at first, she thought that what had happen was just a mistake, it just happened and they both doesnt think what may be the result of their choices. But now, she was happy with her choice because she knows that God only plans whats best for us.

JAN. 20 24 Patients Initials: M.D. Age/Gender: 44 / Female Diagnosis: Breast Mass Right REFLECTION

JAN. 27 31 Patients Initials: S.R. Age/Gender: 24 / Female Diagnosis: G3P2 (2002) Incomplete abortion 14 weeks septic non-induced REFLECTION Patient S.R. suffered miscarriage. It was actually the second time that she experienced this hardship. She was distressed because she and her husband wanted to have a child. She was afraid that she will not be able to get pregnant and that troubles her. She wants a child, and she prayed for God to help her and make her strong to face this suffering. With her husband by her side and of course, their family, she tries to not give up and believes that one day God will give her the best gift in her life. God wants us to weep as one caring for each other equally as we comfort and confront, warm and warn, cherish ang challenge within an atmosphere of supportive safety. He wants us to support each other with tender hearts and humble minds. As we seek ways in which we can support each other, it might be helpful to remember that the word support literally means to lend strength to. We find strength in places that are supportive, places where its safe to be ourselves. We encourage and build each other up when we see others in terms of their purpose and mission in life. Patient S.R. was glad for the support of her family. Without someone to lean on in times of problems, she may not have the strength to handle this obstacle. But she was more than grateful to have God in giving her the best family that she could have and also a man that will love her forever.

FEB. 3 - 7 Patients Initials: R.S. Age/Gender: 55 / Male Diagnosis: Post Gliotic Seizure prob. secondary to Retracranial Mass REFLECTION Patient R.S. has a brain tumor; he had undergone a surgical procedure called craniotomy in which they will open the patients skull to remove the tumor/mass. In his case, they have only partially removed the mass. Because of his serious condition, patient R.S. is very weak. Hes bedridden and always sleeping but a few days after surgery, he was already recovering; although he still cannot sit/stand in his own. But with proper assisting, we are gradually improving his level of activity. Patient R.S. is married with two sons and two daughters. The remarkable thing about him is the support that comes from his family and relatives. His wife looks after him and sometimes their sons and daughters will visit him. It was a great feeling having a family by your side. They became your strength and thats why I know that patient R.S. is very brave in facing his condition. God gives us our own family so that we will learn to commit on being there for each other. Gods committed to us, and He expect us to be committed to Him and then to each other. Its by Gods design that we define our lives by our commitments: marriage, children, work, and church. Were better together as we help each other face the troubles in our homes and with our health. Similar to patient R.S., his family is committed to him and their presence is a source of encouragement for his speedy recovery.
