You can select from three types of courses, each of which has a different structure. This allows you to reach your goals individually and at the pace you desire. German Standard These courses take place once per week and last one semester. The content of one course level is spread over two or three semesters (Example: German Standard 1/3 to German Standard 3/3). German Intensive These courses take place three times per week and last one semester. The content of one course level is spread over one semester. (Example: German Intensive 1/1). German Day Intensive These courses take place in the morning or afternoon and last four weeks (= 1 module). The content of a course level is spread over three modules (Example: German Day Intensive 1/3 to German Day Intensive 3/3).

2. Course levels The levels of German language courses are geared to the European Language Portfolio (ELP). This is divided into six different ability levels from A1 to C2 and is recognised worldwide. At the end of a course you will have reached the level specified in the course title. Placement When you take our language test, you can figure out what your current language level is yourself. Simply take our online language test online or in person at EB Zurich. German language diplomas These recognised diplomas provide official proof of your German language skills. EB Zurich is a telc examination centre and will prepare you for the following certifications: Start Deutsch 1 Start Deutsch 2 Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) B1 telc Deutsch B2 Goethe-Zertifikat C1 Goethe-Zertifikat C2 The examinations for level C1 and C2 are taken externally. EB Zurich primarily offers three types of courses: Standard, Intensive and Day Intensive. We also offer special courses: e.g. spelling courses, learning support courses for foreign-language apprentices, writing and conversation courses, pronunciation courses, et al. What course levels are there? You can choose courses from six different course levels ranging from A1 to C2. These levels correspond to the European Language Portfolio (ELP) and are internationally recognised. How do I find out the right course level for me? Our placement test helps you to determine your current course level. You can take the test easily online on the EB Zurich website or at our language school at Riesbachstrasse 11, 8008 Zurich. When and where do the German language diploma examinations take place? EB Zurich is a telc examination centre and hosts examinations for grades A1 up to and including B2. Examinations for Goethe-Zertifikat C1 and C2 are taken externally. The examination dates can be found on our website (PDF). How and where can I find out information? How many people take part in one course? The maximum number of participants is 14. How long does one lesson last? One lesson lasts 45 minutes. Which teaching materials are used in the courses? The following textbooks are used depending on the course and level: Deutsch im Alltag, Deutsch in der Schweiz, Tangram, em Brckenkurs neu, em Hauptkurs neu, Mit Erfolg zum Zertifikat Deutsch, Testbuch and Mit Erfolg zu telc Deutsch 2, Testbuch.
