10. The Contractor shall guarantee workmanship, materials and any newly fitted equipment
for a period of six months following completion of the repairs. The Contractor at his
expense shall make faults due to materials or workmanship discovered during this
period and reported to the Contractor in writing before the expiry of the guarantee
period any defects, good. On completion of such corrective work, a new guarantee
period of six months shall commence for such renewals or replacements. However, the
Contractor's liability does not apply to defects arising out of materials provided by
Owner.
11. The Contractor shall furnish records of machinery calibrations, modifications to ships
drawings, machining details etc, as soon as practically possible after receiving
instruction form OR. At the end of the repair period, the shipyard will provide a draft
fair copy of all such records in the order required by OR, on acceptance of which six
bound copies shall be furnished, each complete with index sheet.
12. Where the Contractor is unable to meet the requirements of this specification, in respect
of suitability of equipment, or sufficient quantities thereof, to the satisfaction of OR, the
Contractor shall rectify the stated deficiencies within 24 hours, or be liable for all delays
and costs incurred resulting there from.

3. The Contractor's liability shall begin at the time when the Vessel is delivered to
Contractor's yard, pier or other location designated by him, ready for repairs, and shall

and all rubbish have been removed from the Vessel, the latter having been duly accepted
by Owners.

Dress up threads on all removed studs, nuts, and bolts. After inspection and testing, the

All necessary staging, cleaning up of spent grits or other equipment for grit blasting is
to be included in all quotations.
All ships side valves, impressed current anodes, speed log, echo sounder and any other
external sensors are to be suitably protected prior to commencing of grit blasting.
Propeller newly polished or not shall be suitably protected.
Any deck, pump room and engine room machinery open during grit blasting shall be
protected using temporary wooden covers and heavy-duty polypropylene sheeting.
Deck scuppers are to be fitted with chutes and shipside overboards, which are in use,
are to be fitted with wooden plugs and discharge pipes.
Unless otherwise stated blasting will commence from the stern of the vessel and work
forward.
The dry dock bottom area should be free from grit remnants used in previous drydocking or any other material that could be considered as a source of potential
contamination of the hull.
Areas and standard of grit blasting are to be agreed with the Owners Representative
prior to commencement of grit blasting. Yard to state type and grade of grit to be
employed.
First primer coat of paint is to be applied immediately after air blowing the blasted
areas. The damaged paint edges in way of the blasted areas are to be feathered by light
sweeping.
PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
All paint application to be made using airless spray unless otherwise specifically
requested. Actual required coverage thickness will be determined by the paint scheme
to be employed. DFTs given below are for guidance only.
Paint will be of Owners supply and will be delivered to yard loose i.e. no pallets.
Quotation will take account of necessary handling of all paint to be utilized. Where 2component coatings are involved, their mixing by the sub-contractors gangs should be
such that a homogenous product is finally delivered to the satisfaction and approval of
the paint inspector or the attending superintendent.
Hull anodes to be protected with masking tape or grease prior to painting.
Propeller to be coated with fish oil.
Paint storage in the dock will be on a volume area control basis with used drums
similarly disposed. Prior to usage, paint stocks will be covered with tarpaulins or similar
to avoid direct sunlight.
No application of paints is to be made until the Owners Representative and paint
manufacturers appointed inspector approve the prepared surfaces.
The yard is to arrange an inspection by Owner Representative and paint manufacturer
appointed inspector between each coat prior to over coating.

Provide labor and material to open the boiler furnace door and side access door for
inspection and cleaning.
Owners Representative will inspect the boiler before and after cleaning.
After authorization of Owners Representative, remove and refit, after work, the cover of
the furnace floor water washing blow pipes, open and re-close, after work, the drain holes
on the floor for access. Lay a sheet of waterproof canvas on the furnace floor, and provide
a means for immediate and constant draining of the water and the removal of sludge,
resulting from washing down. It is the Contractors responsibility to dispose of all water
and sludge from the vessel.
Wash the boiler with 80C, 5 kg/cm2 of hot, fresh water using an armored hose and a hand
nozzle from the stack uptake to the furnace floor, including the roof, screen, generating and
wall tubes. High pressure FW washing up to 2,000 psi @ ambient temperature may be used
alternatively. Pay attention not to let washing water penetrate behind the refractory. After
removal of equipment and the boiler is dry, the boiler furnace to be closed up in good order
using Owner supplied gaskets.
Four (4) 3-meters high single tower staging is required.
Note: It is recommended that this item be carried out before the boiler has been cooled
down.

Provide labor equipment and material to open the side access doors for inspection and
cleaning. Owners representative / Chief Engineer will inspect the boiler before and after

HEATING LAMPS
Provide labor and material to install temporary heating lamps on electric motors and
alternators as directed by Owners Representative and to remove upon completion of
repairs. Lamps to be 200 watts each. All the power consumption to be through the shipshore power kWh meter. Yard to ensure any burned-out lamps are replaced immediately.

ELECTRICAL MOTORS
Disconnect and remove electrical motors as directed. Take Megger readings before and
after disconnecting leads from motor.
Motors are to be taken to the workshop, completely dismantled, and washed thoroughly
with approved electrical cleaner. When stator and rotor are thoroughly cleaned, they are to
be baked dry and Megger readings taken and given to the Owners Representative.
When directed and Megger readings are satisfactory, stators and rotors to be painted with
an approved electrical varnish and re-baked. The rotors are then to be dynamically
balanced. The motor connection wires to be insulated by tape and varnished. Bearing
housings are to be machined, build-up by metal spray and machined to original size.
Upon completing the above and if the final insulation resistance readings are satisfactory,
the motors are to be reassembled with new Owners supply bearings and grease.
The motors then are to be returned to the vessel and refitted as original after adjusting
alignment with machinery.
Before coupling up with machinery, motor rotation test is to be carried out for correct
rotation. Then operational test is to be carried out to satisfaction of the Owners
Representative.
Note: All motors are 440/110 Volt AC, 3 Phase, 60 HZ, Class H insulation unless
otherwise specifically stated in each item.
Please advise rates per kW.
