Song
Artist Radiohead
What are the conventions of music videos from this genre? The generic conventions of alternative rock music videos in relations to the visuals are usually amplified or disjuncture. There are various shot in alternative rock music videos, especially on the band, these shots are: - Close ups of band members and their instruments - long shots of the band - hand held shots - POV - Establishing shots Mise-En-Scene The costumes for alternative rock tend to be casual and carefree, jeans, t-shirts etc. Theres usually a reoccurring colours but not always, tend to be reds, blues and blacks The lighting is typically natural and low-key and stays the same throughout; it fits in with the environment of where its shot. High key lighting is rarely used in less the conventions are being challenged. Props are usually very basic and are only there to keep the ideology of disestablishmentarianism. The themes tend to highlight negative issues, such as pain/depression/anxiety/addiction, but there are others that break this convention.
How are you going to meet these conventions in your video? Style (in-concert and as live footage; animation (stop motion, digital); interpretative; narrative;
impressionist; surrealist; pastiche; parody; referencing; homage)
Research
What music videos have you watched to research your genre? Radiohead Just The Killers Mr. Brightside Nirvana R.E.M everybody hurts Blink-182 Adams song
How have these videos influenced the decisions made? Include screen shots of the key
influences
My two main influences have to be Radiohead Just and R.E.M Everybody hurts. They influenced me because they boy have a narrative styled music video and although they would be described as disjuncture, in my opinion they would in some ways be Amplified as the video emotional relates to the video. They both include subtitles to describe the conversations and thoughts of the actors, witch I may include
Lyrics
When you were here before Couldn't look you in the eye You're just like an angel Your skin makes me cry You float like a feather In a beautiful world I wish I was special You're so fucking special But I 'm a creep
I 'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts I want to have control I want a perfect body I want a perfect soul I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fucking special I wish I was special
But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here
She's running out again She's running out She run, run, run run Run
Whatever you want You're so fucking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here I don't belong here.
How will your visuals relate to the song? (Illustrate, Amplify or Disjuncture)
