If any person suffers loss or damage which is proved to have been caused by any negligent act or omission of Det Norske Veritas, then Det Norske Veritas shall pay compensation to such person for his proved direct loss or damage. However, the compensation shall not exceed an amount equal to ten times the fee charged for the service in question, provided that the maximum compensation shall never exceed USD 2 million. In this provision "Det Norske Veritas" shall mean the Foundation Det Norske Veritas as well as all its subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, agents and any other acting on behalf of Det Norske Veritas.

For the notation 1$87,&862SHUDWLRQ, no additional requirements are specified in this chapter. % ' JUDSKLF PRGHO The 3-D graphical model is part of the product model and consists of a three dimensional view of the entire hull structure and associated features. Selected tools are accessible to the owner for vessels with 1$87,&86 class notations. 6RIWZDUH IHDWXUH is a common description of the data handling capabilities and characteristics associated with the various software tools accessible through NAUTICUS . % 3URGXFW PRGHO The term SURGXFW PRGHO refers to the principle of collecting relevant information pertaining to classification about a product over its life cycle and to link this information directly to the product in a computer model. The product model includes the ship structure and essential equipment for which an involvement by the Society has been defined.
$ 0DLQWHQDQFH RI SURGXFW PRGHO It is the Society's responsibility to maintain and update the product model based on survey results, damage reports and receipt of other relevant information applicable to the ship. It is the owner's responsibility to supply data needed by the Society for maintenance of the product model. Changes to the ship or installed equipment may necessitate changes to the product model. Such changes to the product model will be effected by the Society.
