The figure world that I am going to observe is Real Madrid, which is Spanish football (soccer) club.

The club was founded in 1902. There are twenty-three professional players play for the club. The club

plays in the Spanish league and the copa del rey and the Europe championship, which compound
European soccer clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo the best player in the world in 2008 and 2013 play for Real
Madrid. Ronaldo is the super star, he has joined the club in 2009 and he cost the club ninety-four million
duller. The club had diversity of players from around the world, but the majority of the players have the
Spanish citizenship. The manger and the head coach of the soccer team is Carlo Ancelotti. I chose to
observe Real Madrid because I spend a lot of time watching their games and I know that I have good
background about the club.
The team founded for the people how used to play soccer in the streets and to gather them. The other
reason is to make a professional team that can compete other teams in the country and in Europe. The team
owned by city of Madrid. When the team founded the mine reason is to make soccer team, but that developed
to include many sports, for example, basketball. Real Madrid is one of the famous soccer teams in the world.
They have a stadium and in it there is store that sells the jerseys of the team and soccers equipment. As any
sport in the world to watch the game in the stadium you have to buy ticket. The stadium considers tourist
attraction a lot of tours of the city of Madrid visit it. I think these are the major ways that the club earns
money from. Real Madrid has soccer schools around the world that help young children to be soccer players
and they have one in Madrid.

In the club there are a lot of rules between the player each other and between the fans. The players have
to come to the training on time and they have to respect the coach choices. For example, the players who are
assigned to start the game and who are going to stay on the bench has to accept the coach chooses. In the
stadium the fans and the players are not allowed to smoke. The club has penalty for the fans who come down
to the field. The fans participant is very important to give the players enthusiasm to give their best and that
could be very loudly and that acceptable.

The discourse community that expected to see in my choose is players that

has goal which is wining titles and make their fans happy. I believe that there is
another discourse community that by supporting the young children to find their
talents.

This observation was taken for the first haft of Real Madrid and Granada match
at the Santiago bernabeu in Spain, Madrid. This match is one of the Spanish league
Real Madrid is the third in standing and Granada is the eleventh. If you do not know
about soccer you will notice that there are lexis that could be unfamiliar to you, but I
am going to explain them. This game is very special to Real Madrid fans because the
star of the team just won of the Ballon dOr, which is given to the best player in the
world.
Figured World: I think of it as group of people who share the same goal and the live
in the same community.

In the club there are a lot of rules between the player each other and between the fans. The players have to

offensive to the team. In this figure world if player move to club in the same city, that might make the fan hate
him. Players have to respect each other and do not cause problems.
Actors: Are the people who play the roles in the figured world and without them we cannot
say that there is figured world.
In my observation there are actors who I have mentioned and I will list their names
and their roles.

Carlo Ancelotti: He is the head coach and the manger of the team. He is Italian and he
is quiet compering to the previous manger he just arrived to the team and he is in his
first year.
Cristiano Ronaldo: He is the star of the team and one of the important players in the
team he has the highest salary among soccer players in the world and he is the best
player in the world. His nickname is CR7 and its taken from his name and the shirt
that he wears. He has a serous character in the field, he plays as left-winger in the
team and sometimes move from left to right.

Gareth Bale: He is the second most expensive player in the world. He just moved to
Real Madrid and he cost the club 93 million dollars. He is young and talented player.
Karim Benzem: He is a French player and he plays as striker. A lot Real Madrid fans
say that he is lazy player, but I think he is doing well since the beginning of this
season.
Sergio Ramos: He is the captain of the team and he plays as defender. He won the
world cup and most of the prizes that any soccer player wishes to win. He is a strong
player and sometimes he commits a lot of fouls and he has the highest red card in the
team history.
Marcelo Vieira: He plays in the defiance in the left side and he makes a wonderful
dual with Cristiano. He is the guy that makes the players laugh and he has nice
character. He always smiles.
ngel di Mara: He is front midfielder and he crates goals. He is a selfish player he
does not pass the ball if he has a chance to score, but that does not mean he has not
skilled he know how to pass the ball from a great distance.
Luka Modri: He is midfielder and he is one of the important players. He moved to
Real Madrid last yare he cost the club 33 million. His nickname is the magical man. His
role in the team is to connect the defiance lines to offensive lines.
Artifacts: I think of artifacts as the objects that have meaning to the person who has it
and sometimes it old.

The Ballon dOr: it is golden ball it looks like the soccer ball and it is giving to the best
player in the world, which is choosing by the FIFA (The Fdration International de
Football Association).

The soccer ball: This object has meaning for all of the players in the filed are looking
for it and the game is biased on it.

Referees flag: This flag is raised when one of the players makes a foul. When the
referee raise it the game stop. So it is important to be attention for it.

Referee whistle: the referee uses it to stop the game and start.

Referee cards: he has two cards the first card is the yellow, which means a caution and
another one will send off a player, the red card means you are out of the game.


Discourse Communities: It is the people who have something in common and they have
the same goals.

The referees: There are 4 referees in the game. The referees try to enforce justice
between the two teams.
Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo all of them have to stop the players from the other team from
scoring and defense.

Literacy Practices: It is the way that people communicate with each other on sometimes
it is written and sometimes it is spoken.
Carlo Ancelotti during the game asked his player to change their position and he was
speaking to Bale to change his place with Ronaldo.
Benzema made a sign using his hand for his colleagues to make pressure on the other
teams defense.
The goalkeeper asked his friends to make human wall by speaking to them and give
them sign.

Ronaldo was so sad and disappointed when he missed a goal you can notice that from
his body language.

Offside: Offside position a player is in an offside position if "he is nearer to his opponents' goal
line than both the ball and the second to last opponent," unless he is in his own half of the field of
play. A player level with the second to last opponent is not in an offside position.

Cross-: moving the ball from the right to the left or from left to the right.
Box: the place that close to the goalkeeper and he can catch the ball inside it.

Before the game started the fans in the stadium made a beautiful a picture and it said CR7.
It means Cristiano Ronaldo they made it because it is the first home game for Ronaldo
since he won the best player title and prize.
10:01 the head coach Ancelotti seem very relax(I think because the last four wins for the

10:02 Granada first chance but Pepe hit the ball and it goes to a corner.

10:05 Gareth Bale try to make a run in the right side but Granada defense stop him.

10:07 offside against Granada called by the second referee (Real Madrid players
raised their hands to get the second referee attention).

10:08-09 Gareth bale was fouled and it seem serious.

10:11 it is corner for real Madrid and Modric play it to Ramos who hit by his head and
it goes out.

10:13 Real Madrid fans cheer Gareth bale and the cheer the club name.

10:15-16-17 Granada players keep holding the ball and Real Madrid players try to
make a pressure.

10:17 Ramose and Marcelo commit a foul and the referee give Ramose yellow card
and he talked with referee ramose seem unhappy with the referee decision.

10:18 the coach is talking with the players and gives them instructions.

10:22 the pressure is higher from real Madrid players and Benzima miss a great
chance to score.

10:25 Ronaldo make a beautiful run and he shoot the ball but he miss the target .

moved his hand which seem that he is unhappy).
The referee used his whistle to stop the game and that means the end of the first half.

Time 3:00-3:45 pm

This observation was taken for Real Madrid and Espaola during their game. The
game is one of the games in the Copa Del Rey competition and it means Championship
of Spain His Majesty the King's Football Cup. The game is the second leg of the
quarterfinal. In the first leg Real Madrid won by goal scored by Benzame in Espaola
stadium. This game is playing in Santiago Bernabu which is Real Madrid stadium.

*Note: some of the actors in observation one stile play the same roles in observation two
and I will add new actors who join the figure world in this part.

Iker Casillas: He is goalkeeper and he has been playing for the club since 1990 and he
is the captain when he is in the field. He got most of the prizes that goalkeeper wish to
get.

Isco: He signed for Real Madrid last summer and he coasted the club 30 million. He is
young player and he has great future.
Fabio: He is defender player and he gets injured a lot. He is a good player but he does
not know to control on his nerves

3:01 Isco made a good run, but defiance stopped him and he asks for a corner.

3:02 Free kick for Ronaldo, he shot but it goes right a cross the goal.

3:05-6 Real Madrid has the position of the ball.

3:07 nice long assist from Xabi to Jese who control the ball while he is making short
run and he shot the ball and it goes right to the goal (the first goal for Real Madrid by
Jese).

I observation Real Madrid game, the game was between Athletic Bilbao and
Real Madrid. The game is part of the Spanish league competition. The game was played
in San Mams stadium, which is the new stadium of Athletic Bilbao. Since Athletic
open the San Mames stadium no team has defeat them in their home stadium. The
stadium located in Spain Bilbao city.

Jes Rodrguez: He is young player and he plays in forward position. He was playing
for Real Madrid castill, which is Real Madrid for young players.

Xabi Alonso: One of the important players in the club. I think of him as backbone of
Real Madrid and he is midfielder. The nickname that people have given him is the
maestro.
Daniel Carvajal: He played for Real Madrid castill than he moved to another club. In
that club he showed that he deserve to play for Real Madrid they brought him back
this year. He plays as right defender.


3:00 Real Madrid player Benzema made a pressure one the goalkeeper who made
wrong pass to Ronaldo who shot just went beside the goal (Ronaldo seem un happy
with the result).

3:02 Carvajal pass the ball to Benzema than he passes it to Di Mariah who shot the ball
but it is too wide.
