PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am a Malay who was born and raised in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. The name given, Ahmad Mazman bin Othman. I just finished studying as a high school student at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Gemencheh. I plan to further my studies in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). This started when my counselor asked which subject I always score. I simply answered English Language. She was the one who suggested me to choose TESL as one of my courses that I should enroll in University. I am frequently curious to discover more about English. Then, when I remember about what my counselor told me. I chose ASASI TESL when I registered on UPU registration online. I was born on 12th of March 1996, at Hospital Besar Seremban. Since the death of my father in 2000, I live with my mother, Siti Maznah binti Abdul Samad. If I were successfully chosen to further my studies in TESL at any UiTMs, I would be the first one in my family to study in Universities or Colleges. I am really interested in English. At school, I preferred to speak English with my non-Muslim friends compared to Bahasa Melayu. I showed my deeper interest in English when I attended an interview for Drama Fest to represent my school in Minggu Bahasa Peringkat Zon at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Mersing. Luckily, I had been chosen and I acted as one of the lead characters in the play entitled The Nanny. The starting line for me to be involved in TESL course is to obtain at least A- for English in my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Thanks to God, I achieved A for English in the examination. I would like to enroll TESL course in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) because UiTM has many branches all over Malaysia. Then, UiTM also is well-known as one of the best Universities in Malaysia. Then, from what I know, UiTM only chooses the best lecturers to enroll the responsibilities in order to ensure the students manage to score very well in their studies. I also plan for TESL, after finishing my ASASI TESL, I will further my studies to achieve Degree in this course. Then, I will apply any jobs that suit the course that I will be taken. Then, step into Master and PhD. Why I want to further my studies in TESL? I would love to contribute to my village first because residents at my village are very not fluent to speak English. I would love to teach kids, primary and high school students at my village English for free as long as I am capable to do so. As our country is one of the developing countries all over the world, it is important for each of the folks to master English even though a broken English.
