In addition to providing for free trade, the Agreement sought the following:
ensure that the benefits of free trade were equitably distributed promote industrial development in the Less Developed Countries (LDCs) rationalize agricultural production and facilitate marketing of selected products
In 1973, CARIFTA was integrated into CARICOM in the hopes of establishing a Caribbean community where the common market would be an integral part.
CXC aims to: provide regionally and internationally recognized secondary school leaving examinations relevant to the needs of the region, produce teaching materials such as textbooks, train teachers and to advise regional governments on Education matters.
