ThefollowingguideisacompletewalkthroughtoinstallingorupdatingtothelatestversionofOSX.Itrequiresno experienceandallofthenecessaryinstallationandpostinstallationtoolsareavailableontonymacx86.com. UniBeastisatoolthatcreatesabootableinstalleroutofyourdownloadedversionofOSX.Inordertostartfresh, you'llneedaccesstoafunctionalcomputerrunningMacOSXSnowLeopard10.6.8orlater.Thisisarequirement,as youneedaccesstotheMacAppStoretodownloadOSXandcreatetheinstallationdrive.Tostartfromscratch, bootingthe10.6SnowLeopardRetailDVDdirectly,checkoutiBoot+MultiBeast.

1.DownloadtheOSXMavericksApplicationfromtheMacAppStore 2.PrepareaUniBeastUSBflashdrive 3.InstallOSXMavericks 4.InstallthebootloaderanddriversusingMultiBeast

BeforeYouBegin
1.Registerhereattonymacx86.com.Ifyoudon'thaveauseraccount,createone! 2.Getourlatest MultiBeastandUniBeasttoolsfromthedownloadssection. 3.Purchasea8GBorlargerUSBdrive.

STEP1:DownloadOSXMavericks
ThefulloperatingsystemisafreedownloadforanyonewhohaspurchasedMacOSXSnowLeopard,Lion,orMountain Lion.DownloadtheApplicationfromtheMacAppStoreusingyourAppleIDonanyMacorfunctionalcomputerrunning

1.Open MacAppStore 2.LoginwithyourAppleID 3.Download OSXMavericks TheApplication InstallOSXMaverickswillappearin/Applications.

STEP2:CreateaBootableUSB DriveUsingUniBeast
Takeadeepbreathandtakeyourtimethisisprettysimple, butit'seasytomissthingsifyourush.Followeachsteptothe letter. 1.InserttheUSBdrive 2.Open/Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility 3.HighlighttheUSBdriveinleftcolumn

4.Clickonthe Partitiontab 5.Click Currentandchoose 1Partition

6.Click Options... 7.Choose MasterBootRecord

13.AtDestinationSelect,choose USBandclick Continue

14.IfusingaSocket1156systemwithoutRateMatchingHub(RMH)USBchoose LegacyUSBSupport 15.Ifusingalaptop,choose LaptopSupport 16.Click Continue 17.Enterpasswordandclick Install

UniBeastwillnowcreatethebootableUSBdrive.Theprocesswillonlytakeabout1015minutes,dependingon

systemanddrivespeed,butwillshowhours.Thisisnormal.Donotunplugorstopduringthistime. 18.Drag MultiBeasttoyourcompletedUSBdrive.

STEP3:RecommendedUEFISettings
Ifyou'reinstallingonarecommendedCustoMacdesktopwithAMIUEFI,theoptionsare simple.ForothersystemsmakesuretosetyourBIOSorUEFItoOptimizedDefaults,and yourharddrivetoAHCImode.AwardBIOSsettingsarelistedhere. 1.ToaccessBIOS/UEFISetup,pressandholdDeleteonaUSBKeyboardwhilethesystemis bootingup 2.SettoOptimizedDefaults. 3.(Optional)SetX.M.P.MemoryProfiletoProfile1 4.IfyourCPUsupportsVTd,disableit 5.Saveandexit.

STEP4:InstallOSXMavericks
You'realmostdone!AllyouneedtodoisbootfromtheUSBdriveandinstall! 1.Turnonthecomputer 2.Pressthehotkeytochoosebootdevice IfyouhaveaGigabytemotherboardpress F12 IfyouhaveaASUSmotherboard,press F8 3.Choose USBHDD 4.AttheChimeraBootScreen,choose USBandhit Enter

Ifyouhavetroublereachingtheinstaller,type xattheBootscreenasshownbelow.Youcantypethebootflags GraphicsEnabler=Yes, PCIRootUID=1, PCIRootUID=0,and npci=0x3000bythemselvesortogetherinorderto solvebootissuesforoldergraphicscardsandmachines.Type vtobypasstheApplebootscreenandenterverbose startupmode.Forfurtherexplanationsofbootflags,checkouttheposthere.

5.WhenyouarriveattheInstaller,chooselanguage.

6.ForanewinstallationofOSX,youMUSTeraseandformatthedestinationdriveaccordingtothefollowingsteps beforecontinuing.IfyouareupgradingfromSnowLeopard,Lion,orMountainLionandyouwanttokeepyourfilesand apps,skipstepsaj. a.Inthetopmenubarchoose Utilities,andopen DiskUtility

b.HighlightyourtargetharddrivefortheMavericksinstallationinleftcolumn. c.Click Partitiontab d.Click Currentandchoose 1Partition e.Click Options... f.Choose GUIDPartitionMethod g.Under Name:type Mavericks(Youcanrenameitlater) h.Under Format:choose MacOSExtended(Journaled) i.Click Applythen Partition j.Close DiskUtility 7.Whentheinstallerasksyouwheretoinstall,choose Mavericks,oryourexistinginstall. 8.Uponcompletion,restartthesystem.

STEP5:PostInstallationUsingMultiBeast
MultiBeastisanallinonepostinstallationtooldesignedtoenablebootfromharddrive, andinstallsupportforAudio,Network,andGraphics.InadditionitincludesSystem Utilitiestorepairpermissionsandacollectionofdriversandconfigfiles.Theinstallationis complete,butthedriveisn'tbootableyet.BootfromtheUSBagain,thistimechoosing Mavericks. 1.Turnonthecomputer 2.Pressthehotkeytochoosebootdevice
