TeamLuby Update Week of May 12, 2014

Spring Street School

Mrs. Lubys class

Happy Mothers Day! Enjoy your
special day!
Math MCAS takes place on Tuesday
and Wednesday of this week. Please make
sure your child has plenty of rest, comes to
school on time after a good breakfast, and
has a snack he/she can eat before we
begin. Sugarless gum (sugarless candy
dental concerns) is acceptable. We would
appreciate small water bottles for the
class to share let me know if you can send
some in. The children have been putting in
strong efforts applying what they have
learned throughout the year!
Please have your child check at home
for any Media books they are not currently
reading other than the biography
selections. Thank you in advance for
returning them!
Children should be reading their
biographies and taking notes in preparation
for writing drafts in the coming weeks.
This Friday is our last Math Stars
and Math Olympiad sessions. We truly
appreciate everyones support!
If anyone is available to help the
children record their Monster essays and
Midwest stories, please let me know.

Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto
This will be a short week for
science due to math MCAS testing.
We will continue our work with
advanced circuits this week. We have
already learned about a series circuit
and how it has only one pathway for
the energy to flow through. This
past week we learned about parallel
circuits, which have multiple
pathways. We will be discussing the
application of these types of circuits
in strings of holiday lights and how
to avoid the one light goes out, they
all go out problem.

Happy Birthday!
