1. Evaluation of seminars, Phase I Project work (BTP) will be based on oral classroom resentation (!IE
for Project work, "EE for seminar work and #ini Project work).
$. Evaluation of Phase II Project work (BTP) will be based on resentation to e%ternal and internal staff
members alon& with viva'voice e%amination (!IE and "EE for Project work).
#nstructions for oral presentation"
1. The resentation will be for 1( minutes followed b) 1* minutes of +uestion answers.
$. Presentation has to be made usin& P!,-ato and -!. rojector.
/. 0 timer must be included in the t and used durin& the resentation.
1. The resentation should be limited to 1$'1( slides (includin& links).
a) The first slide should &ive the title as shown in 0nne%ure I
b) "econd slide should &ive the objectives of the roject.
c) 2ot more than $ slides should be devoted to the state of the art.
d) The last slide should be on conclusion and scoe of future work.
(. 0ll fonts on the slides should be between font si3es 1$ for the bod) and 14 for titles and Times
5oman 6ont.
4. 6ollowin& oints are to be strictl) followed in resentation

to 'e su'mitted in te department

These instructions al) to all reorts to be submitted in the deartment like seminar, #ini Project
work, ")nosis and final) )ear B.E Project reort.
"ome of these instructions are mandator) (obvious from the conte%t.) and others are in the nature of
&uidelines. 9verall these instructions are written with reference to the novice who is writin& her,his
first technical reort and has all sorts of +uestions re&ardin& what such a reort looks like or how it is
to be st)led,formatted.
The instructions are therefore detailed and almost all elements are included. "tudents should strictl)
adhere to these &uidelines other wise the reort will be discarded.
Badl% formatted and$or nonstandard st%led reports are irritants to reading and distract
attention from te main contents of te report (tat is, te (or) done).
Besides lea*ing an unsatisfactor% impression on te reader+s mind, te% also lead to using up a
significant part of te e,amination (*i*a -*oce) time in pointing out suc omissions indi*iduall%,
affecting %our grade.
These instructions are written lar&el) with the #":ord st)le software in mind since it is tar&eted at
students from all sorts of back&round who ma) not have had e%erience with or access to -ate%.
;owever, those with such e%erience should be able to imlement them in -ate% also.

1. /um'er of copies to 'e su'mitted " 8nless secified otherwise b) the roject coordinator or facult)
advisor for )our batch, number of students in a &iven batch lus $ coies need to be submitted (one
for the each student in the batch dul) si&ned b) the &uide and e%ternal e%aminer, one for the &uide,
one for the deartment). If )ou have more than one &uide, submit an additional co) for the
co'&uide.
$. Ma,imum page limit" 8nless secified otherwise for )our batch, the ma%imum limit is /( a&es for
the bod) of the reort, that is, from a&e 1 of chater 1 to last a&e of last chater (that is, e%cludin&
cover a&e, certificate a&e, abstract, contents and all other lists, acknowled&ment and anne%ure).
0e*erse printing (tat is, on 'ot sides of te paper) is encouraged to sa*e paper. ;owever, in
that case use thicker aer, minimum 7* &sm, to avoid the reverse side contents interferin& with
readin&. !lease note tat tic)er reports do not necessaril% mean 'etter grades. 0lthou&h no
minimum limit is secified, a bod) len&th lower than $* a&es is not e%ected normall).

0eport Structure"
The reort should normall) have the followin& comonent structure in the &iven order. Each comonent
should start on a new a&e.
1. Co*er page" <ivin& the title of the reort, the name and roll number of the student, the name of the
&uide. The e%act format as a samle a&e is &iven in 0nne%ure I. The title should be reresentative of
the matter contained in the reort. 0void titles that are too &enerali3ed or cr)tic like =!omosites,>
=!omutational 6luid .)namics,> =Bucklin& of Plates.> 0lso avoid ver) lon& titles.
$. Certificate " 0 certificate as er format shown in 0nne%ure II si&ned b) the &uide.
/. A'stract" 0 sin&le ara&rah describin& in concise terms, the technical contents of the reort. This
should not be a la)out of the reort in terms of chater titles. 5ather it should be able to clearl)
conve) to the reader what matter is covered b) the reort as its scoe. Indicate subject dealt with,
objectives of the investi&ation, ar&uments discussed,newl) observed facts,conclusions of the stud) in
summar) form. 0 &ood &uideline is to restrict the abstract to about half a a&e. In an) case it should
not e%ceed one a&e. The abstract should be followed b) a set of ('4 ke)words related to the reort.
1. Ta'le of Contents" !hater, section titles and references with their corresondin& a&e number.
(. 4ist of &igures" <ivin& fi&ure number, fi&ure title, a&e number
4. 4ist of Ta'les" <ivin& table number, table title, a&e number. If there are ver) few fi&ures and
tables, then the list of fi&ures and list of tables ma) be ut on the same a&e. 9therwise the) ma) be

7. /omenclature" 0ll acron)ms and s)mbols used in the reort must be defined here . 9rder is
acron)ms first (in alhabetical order) followed b) s)mbols (En&lish alhabets in alhabetical order,

?. Bod% of te report" In the form of !haters 1 to 2. !hater 1 is usuall) an introductor) chater

+uotations with citation are ermissible, where necessar), for emhasis. @erbatim reroduction will

not sill over into the mar&in sace). 0 &ood idea would be to lace the fi&ure or table at either the
bottom or to of the a&e without breakin& a&e and allow the te%t to flow around it. "imilar or
related fi&ures should be of uniform si3e with uniform letterin&. 0ll fi&ures,tables included must be

commas and full stos. This is a common roblem seen with first time users of word'rocessin&

either as suerscrits or enclosed in s+uare brackets . 0ll references should be numbered (0rabic

chater,section,subsection titles. In seminar reorts, which are almost entirel) based on e%istin&
literature, references must be ade+uatel) cited. ;owever, do not overdo this. 5eferences are cited to

discussed is attributable to the cited literature. !itin& references is not to be taken as acknowle
