INTRODUCTION
An App called Budget My Life aims towards saving in the most efficient way possible. It
functions by having the capability to store students personal information, preferences and
other data that will be used to calculate and highlight possible routes to great budgeting. In
stating this, Individuals are unique so each outcome will be tailored to fit that particular
student allowing the app to have a more hands on approach to changing situations and
changing details. It will help students save and suggest the right spending choices at the
touch of a button. It is easily accessible and tangible as it can be downloaded to ones laptop
or mobile phone. This App is run and owned by OSN Limited (Organising Students Now).This
company is known for their innovative App products that have accommodated students
with their various needs, (Rode et al, 2005).
3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision
Making lives of students easier by helping to budget their income through a touch of a
button anywhere and at any time.
3.2 Industry Analysis:
Mobile Application industry
Is an industry that has developed technological software applications that is simply
installed/downloaded and run on mobile devices such as a smartphone, tablet computer or
PCs that perform certain tasks for the user, Mobile Application (Techopedia, 2014).
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: High There are many apps to choose from, as the
barrier of entry is low. It doesnt take much effort
to get in the industry giving buyers the power to
choose. (Lessin & Ante, 2013)
Supplier power: Low Substitute products are high in numbers so it
means that there are many suppliers to choose

product/services are easily available at
competitive prices. For example IPhone and
Samsung will have different suppliers and may
also have more than one, (The Strategic CFO,
2014).
Threat of new entrants: High This industry has low barriers to enter (easy to
get into) so threat of new entrants would be high.
Also consider local and global entrants. However,
it is considered to be hard to get to the top.

Threat of substitutes: High There are many similar products that provide or
perform similar functions to that of an app.
Substitutes can be considered to be physical
books (product) or seminar teachings (services).

This industry has high buyer power, low supplier power, high threat of substitutes and high rivalry
among existing competitors. However, it is a booming industry and this causes a downfall in
profitability. The more competitors in a market can lead to decreasing prices and can cause apps
being purchased at lower prices or in some cases for free.

Time management; making time to do things, and too not miss assignment deadlines
Managing ones priorities; Making choices in terms of what should be done first over
another,
Money control (Learning to save money); allocating how much you need to save or
spend in terms of school fees to socializing. Student life can become overwhelming when
one does not know or practice these important aspects, (Watkins, 1983).
3.4 The Product and Service
Budget My Life Operates by gathering the information that is required of the user, it will
automatically calculate and highlight possible routes to great budgeting with little effort of
the user. This is a need for students because income can affect ones capability and full focus
on studies as they will be more prone to worry about what they can afford and cant such as
school fees.
To fulfill the needs, the app will offer:
Spending options
Saving options future calculation options
Expense categories where you can update/alter or delete
Advice and tips on hand (scenarios can also be entered for a specific advice to be
generated)
Payment options (To purchase the APP)
Your own personal virtual accountant on hand anytime and anywhere.
24 7 online support/help service on hand
o All based on the required information that will be asked frequently.

Two suppliers who will be releasing and creating the content/functions for Budget My life
APP are:

Because this app is targeting tertiary students, the APP will need to be allowed
access to the students information this will be asked before further processes can be
done and confirmed by the tertiary provider directly. All information will be held in
confidentiality.
Banks are to be contacted and brought on board with permission by all parties
involved. Information will be shared between those involved however; Client bank account
numbers will not be shared to the APP.
3.6 Strategy: COST LEADERSHIP STRATGY (LOW COST/ BROAD MARKET)

Budget My Life follows a broad Market (Competitive Scope) and Low Cost (Competitive
Advantage) strategy that generates Cost leadership products. This is because the market
rivalry is high as there are many competitors which in turn will lead to a decrease in prices
that can lead to apps being purchased at lower prices or in some cases for free. This
emphasizes its low cost advantage. However, despite it being at low cost, the quality of the
product is at most the important aspect of the company as it is leading the way for our
future leaders. Good quality products and low cost items is what attracts customers and
effectively helps retain them.
3.7 Value Chain Acti vi ty: TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT (R & D REASEARCH
AND DEVELOPEMENT) AND SERVICE AFTER SALE
A primary activity that is important to the production of this product would be service after
sale. This is because it is an App that requires maintenance after purchase, this comes in the
form of updates, changes and upgrades etc. This also highlights a support base (student
support services) for the app in terms of enquiries.
A support activity for this product would be technology development. By developing new
technologies it helps create competitive advantages. R and D researching the target
customers, the company will know there needs and wants. Although the technology is not
new, it can be due to its contents and functions that will need to be developed.
3.8 Business Processes
Software development process is a process that involves developing the Application. It is
distributed to suppliers, banks, programmers and tertiary providers to gain inputs before
decisions are to be made on the final production process. It also follows a series of research
and tests aimed towards target group before the software is complete and finalised.
Customer support system process is a process that aims to maintain a relationship with the
user of the product. It achieves this by providing online support 24.7 with decision making

processes, feedback and response and validating details are correct with all parties to
ensure accuracy (networking).

Software production: Decision making on what is efficient and to allocate best solutions that
can enhance the effectiveness of the product.
Networking: This is where all parties are bought on board in decision making processes to
ensure this app covers different perspectives to be able to provide a sufficient
service/product.

Validating customer information: Networking between all parties frequently to obtain the
latest information for a more precise calculation and advice.
Providing online support: To enable those users of the app access at any time with any
queries that they may have. Response is to be given instantly.

Updatng Software
This requires developing managemengt systems that is supported by a ERP system.This is
because plainning and decision makings is an imortant aspect when developing a software
that has more than one partners. It allows each to compromise and give input while reaping
the benefits equally.It also helps allocate tasks due to decison making processes.
Online Support
This requires an application service maintenance system. It is supported by a CRM systems
that helps create and maintain customer relationship. For each user, details are recorded for
better performance within the future.
Customer Informative feedback/ response systems
This system highlights collaboration system as well as customer realationship because it
gives feedback made from the custmoer about the APP and its functions. Information that
can be collected and networked through all parties to generate thinking streams that can in
future create improvement ad satisfaction.

CONCLUSION
An App that aims to help students budget and give adviice of the best ways to do so , would
make student life much easier in terms of accesibility, efficiency and accuracy. A quick and
fast way to do so with a touch of a button, not to meantion at no monetary cost will
improve productivity as well as custoomer satisfaction. Its value within Information systems
is crucial towards student success.
