3. USE OF AIDS
Was there any attempt to use visual
aids/supplementary materials? Were they used well?

4. ACCURACY OF TECHERS LANGUAGE
Was the teachers language acceptable from
consideration of accuracy, fluency, clarity of diction,
projection of voice?
Did the teacher seem at ease using the language and
metalanguage of the classroom?
Did the classroom discourse seem natural, thus
helping acquisition of the target language?

5. INSTRUCTIONS/CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Were clear instructions given and repeated where
necessary?
Did the progress of the lesson seem logical and well
controlled by the teacher?
Was attention paid to discipline and how the learners
applied themselves to the task?

6. PRESENTATION OF NEW LANGUAGE
Were attempts made to introduce and clarify new
language points or areas?
Was the presentation attractive and stimulating?
Was it clear?
Did the teacher seem at ease with the respective
language point or area?

7. ELICITATION
Did the teacher use a range of elicitation techniques?
Were the students contributions received supportively
and made use of appropriately?
Was the nature and content of material elicited
appropriately to the level of the students and their
intellectual status?
Were long and short answers elicited appropriately?

8. CHECKING UNDERSTANDING
Were there conscious efforts made by the teacher to
check understanding?
Were these more than surface enquiries?
Where understanding was not adequate, did the
teacher spend the time clarifying?
