computer science and
planning in the world.
London is our living
laboratory. This is the ideal
environment for learning
about the challenges of
world cities right here
on our doorstep.
Our courses open doors to
new job opportunities in
planning and engineering
that are absolutely critical to
our future cities.

At CASA you will learn how to
change our future cities making
them fairer and more efcient.
Our courses ofer the latest in
urban analytics - methods that
let you explore massive data
sets, simulate how cities work
using new data, and enable
new ways in which this science
can be brought to the citizen.

By the end of this century most of us will be living in cities,
cities that will be massively automated in comparison with
those of today.
Our Masters programmes are unique in educating
graduates into the ways in which such
smart cities will be developed.

Our courses refect the
very latest in the
science of cities.
Smart cities are all about
how computers, data, and
analytics, which consist of
models and predictions, are
being embedded into cities.
To this end, we need
powerful analytics to make
sense of this new world.
Cities, currently, are being
extensively wired, thus
generating new kinds of
control and new kinds
of services, which are
producing massive data
streams big data.

MSc (Master of Science) and MRes (Master of Research)
degrees are both postgraduate courses. They both contain
taught elements, compulsory and optional modules which
are assessed, with the MRes being more research focussed
with fewer taught classes than the MSc which has a more
practice-based emphasis.
Typically, an MRes is ideal as a grounding for those wishing to pursue
further study to PhD level whereas an MSc may be more suitable
for someone wishing to expand their knowledge of a particular area
without necessarily wanting to study to doctoral level.

Applying for a place on one
of these courses is simple
via UCLs online admission
system.
First you need to decide
which course you would like
to apply for, either the MSc
in Smart Cities and Urban
Analytics or the MRes in
Smart Cities.
Completed applications are
forwarded to us for consideration
by the course leader and
academic staf who will make
a decision on your suitability.
UCLs admissions ofce will send
you the formal outcome of your
application, and normally the
whole process takes just a few
weeks.
Then you need to decide
whether youd like to study
full time (in one calendar
year) or on a part-time
fexible modular basis
(between 2 and 5 calendar
years).
If you need any help at any stage
of the process, please do not
hesitate to contact our Teaching
and Learning Administrator,
Lisa Cooper either by email
[email protected] or by
