Reflective Writing Intro Questions
A) Brief Introduction
Very simply, reflection is about looking back over ones experiences in order to analyse them in terms
of reasons for success and failure and how these reflections can be applied in future practice and
learning. This process is significant in ones personal and professional development in that it
empowers individuals to identify and take advantage of their learning opportunities.
B) Reflective Task: Questions
You are required to reflect on your work as a group, and your individual contributions to that group by
answering the questions below in writing.
1. Your Role
What was your role in the activity and how were the tasks assigned among group members?
Briefly explain the process by which the tasks were distributed.
Were you pleased with the role assigned to you?
In your opinion, did each person have a role that was suited to his/her personal skills and
attributes? Why? / Why not?
2. Group Evaluation
How well did you work together as a group?
Highlight the strengths of your group: what worked well and why?
What weaknesses did you notice in the performance of the group? What did not work well
and why? Critically evaluate the techniques used to resolve the difficulties that arose.
Give specific examples and evidence to support your points.
3. Critical Self-reflection
What were your strengths and weaknesses? Be specific.
What did you discover about your learning style from this group activity?
If you had the opportunity, what would you do differently, and why?
Which specific skills do you need to develop in order to strengthen your chances of success
in future group-work?
4. Peer Evaluation
What did you learn from your group members? Be honest and critical.
Focus on the strengths and / or weaknesses of your peers without naming people: use
Person A or person B instead, and give specific examples.
5. Future Actions
Which new skills did you acquire through this activity that you can transfer to other areas of
work? Give examples.
What personal goals / objectives have you set for the future as a result of what you have
learnt about yourself

Some tips for completing the task:
Write in an academic style, but do use the first person!
Use full sentences and paragraphs; do not use note form!
Give specific examples and evidence to support your points.
Be honest in your reflective and critical evaluation of the experience.
