CHAPTER 2

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION

This chapter includes all the data gathered by the

researchers throughout the study. These data includes the

respondent’s profile which is composed of their gender,

religion, and socio-economic status. The researchers were

able to determine the perception on xenocentrism of the

third year HRM students using the table which served as

bases in interpreting the data gathered.

Table 1. Gender Profile

Gender Frequency Percentage

Male 21 35%

Female 39 65%

Total 60 100%

Table 1 shows the frequency and percentage of the

respondents in terms of gender. Out from the total number

of respondents, are 21 respondents are male which is

equivalent to 35%. On the other hand, 39 of them are female

which is equivalent to 65%. Majority of the respondents are

female.
It can be seen in the table that majority of the

respondents are female. This gives an idea that girls are

more interested to be sent at school than boys. Jim Lehrer,

an American journalist, said that women make up 56 percent

of the college population and the number continues to rise.

Within ten years, 3 million more women than men could be

attending college.

Table 2. Religion

Religion Frequency Percentage

Roman Catholic 54 90%

Bible Baptist 4 6.67%

Protestant 1 1.67%

Christian Born Again 1 1.67%

Total 60 100%

Table 2 shows the frequency and percentage of the

respondents by religion. It is shown that 90% of the

respondents belong to the Roman Catholic faith, 6.67% are

Bible Baptists, 1.67% are Protestants, and 1.67% are Born

Again Christians.

The Table shows that majority of the respondents

Belonged to the Roman Catholic faith. The result is very

obvious since the Philippines is a Christian country. The

Philippines is one of two countries in Asia and the Asia-

Pacific region with Roman Catholic majorities, the other

being East Timor. The Philippines is separated into

different archdioceses, and dioceses. About 90% of

Filipinos identify themselves as Christians, with 81%

belonging to the Roman Catholic Church and 5% composing of

Protestant denominations, and 4% comprising of The Church

of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Iglesia Ni Cristo,

Philippine Independent Church, Seventh Day Adventist,

United Church of Christ, among others.

Table 3. Socio-economic Status

Socio-economic Status Frequency Percentage

Upper Class 4 6.67%

Middle Class 55 91.67%

Lower Class 1 1.67%

Total 60 100%

Table 3 shows the frequency and percentage of the

respondents in terms of socio-economic status. It is shown

that 6.67% of the respondents belong to the upper class,

91.67% belong to the middle class, 1.67% belong to the

It is show that majority of the respondents belong to

the middle class. Taken from Smc.org (www.smc.org), 19.2%

of the population of the Philippines
