Special Issue on Preparing the Organizaton for Enterprise Transformaton
Volume 4, Issue 4 (Winter 2014)
Guest Editors: Dr. Hugh McManus (Mets Design), Dr. Greg Harris (U.S. Army and Embry-Riddle
Aeronautcal University) and Professor Phillip Farrington (University of Alabama in Huntsville)
The Journal of Enterprise Transformaton requests papers on topics related to the collecton, synthesis and
disseminaton of the knowledge necessary to efect enterprise transformatons. University educaton and
corporate training are of partcular interest, but the issue is open to other forms of knowledge synthesis
and disseminaton. Topics of interest include curriculum, case studies and examples from practce,
pedagogy, assessment, and research fndings. These include, but are not limited to:
Courses, curricula, and feld/case studies that prepare students for enterprise transformaton
Innovatve pedagogy relevant to lean and/or enterprise-transformaton curricula
Research into the underlying principles of enterprise transformatons
Reviews and syntheses of existng material to create a teachable body of knowledge
Adapton of transformaton techniques to the specifc needs of diferent industries and/or work
...................environments, e.g. emerging understanding of health care enterprises and their transformaton
Applicaton of enterprise transformaton to university or other educatonal enterprises
Leadership, facilitaton, and team formaton for enterprise transformaton
Sustainability and environmental awareness in teaching and practcing transformaton
Journal of Enterprise Transformaton, published by Taylor & Francis, is invitng papers on topics relatng
to preparing enterprises for transformaton. The modern workplace features constant transformatons at
both the local and enterprise level. The term enterprise can mean many things; in this context, it means
that the changes faced by the organizaton will afect both their work processes and relatonships, and the
business context in which the work takes place. To thrive in this environment, workers, leaders, and change
agents need to be prepared not only with process improvement skills, but also with an understanding of
complex business enterprises, and the emerging understanding of their systematc transformaton. How
can lean trainers and educators prepare students to be ready for this environment? How can existng
lean knowledge and expertse be reduced to teachable practces and principles? How can transformaton
concepts be used to make the educaton process itself more efcient and efectve?
This special issue will include selected papers from recent Lean Educator Conferences
(htp://www.leaneducatorconference.org), but is not limited to LEC partcipants. Conference authors are
encouraged to submit updated papers. In keeping with the policies of the journal, papers should clearly
link the work to enterprise-level concepts and applicatons.
Submission Instructons:
All complete papers will be subject to a thorough peer review process. For this special issue, concise
papers (no longer than 20 double-spaced pages) will be given preference. The tmeline is as follows:
Full paper submission deadline: November 1, 2013
Publicaton decisions: February 1, 2014
Revised paper deadline: May 1, 2014

Instructons for authors:
During the submission process, you will be required to certfy that the manuscript (1) is not under review at any other journal and will
not be submited to another journal untl the Journal of Enterprise Transformaton makes an editorial decision regarding the paper;
(2) has not been published in any other journal; and (3) cites the authors' papers on topics closely related to this submission,
published, in press, or in working paper form.
Format. Keep artcles as brief as possible. The maximum length is 30 pages. Use 11 point font, 1 inch margins, and double-spacing for
the manuscript including references, tables, fgures and appendices. Do not use footnotes.
Abstract/Keywords. Include an abstract of 200 words maximum. Generally abstracts do not contain mathematcal notaton or
literature citatons. Please provide up to 10 keywords.
References. List references alphabetcally by author in a reference secton at the end of the artcle. Some samples of the correct style
follow:
Journal: Rouse, W.B. (2005). A theory of enterprise transformaton. Systems Engineering, 8(4), 279-295.
Book: Senge, P. M., Kleiner, A., Roberts, C., Roth, G., Ross, R. & Smith, B. (1999). The dance of change: The

Mathematcal expressions. Number expressions that are referred to in the text. Use consecutve Arabic numerals in parenthesis, on
the same line, fush right.
Grammar/Spelling. Please follow U.S. English spelling and grammar conventons.
Figures/Tables. Provide a capton for every fgure and table and refer to each in the text. Number fgures consecutvely and number
Tables consecutvely using Arabic numerals. Figures should be of good resoluton with digital image fles of 300 dpi or higher. Keep in
mind that the journal is printed in black and white. Use font sizes that are readable even afer fgures or tables are photo-reduced.
Page Proofs. For accepted papers, the designated author will receive the page proofs via email and is responsible for checking and
approving the manuscript on behalf of all coauthors. This step is for correctons rather than rewritng material.
