Know When The Fight Is On:

Todays lesson is meant to get you up to speed quickly. It includes the most important things you need
to know to win a street fight.
The best way to win a fight is to recognize it before it has happened. Countless guys get taken out by
some punk without even knowing they were in a fight (they either didnt see it coming or didnt want to
believe they were in a fight. !ont let this happen to you.
There are three ways to recognize a fight (other than someone punching you. There are non"verbal
body language cues# verbal cues# and previous behavior (aka common sense.
$side from getting hit there are % main non"verbal cues that you are about to be in a fight&
'. 1. The Look Away: !uring an argument the other guy suddenly looks away from you off to
one side. $n e(perienced street fighter and special ops soldier )im *est uses this cue all the
time. +e once told me# ,If Im in a confrontation with someone and they look to the side# it
means theyre about to hit me - so I hit first.. It may seem odd but looking away is a very
common# almost refle( like# reaction for many aggressors. /o take )ims advice and hit first
because if you dont his haymaker will be sailing towards your temple.
0. 2. The Finger a!: /omeone poking you in the chest is also a big red flag. Its a way that
your opponent ,tests the water. to see if you are an easy target. +es building up his confidence
and resolve# by violating your personal space. If you stand by and do nothing# it tells him# ,the
waters fine1 go ahead and attack this guy.. $ poke in the chest# or any violation of your
personal space at the initial stages of a confrontation should trigger some kind of immediate
response from you.
2. ". The #ho$e: 3et another classic e(ample of violating your personal space# e(cept this move
is almost always immediately followed by a punch. 3ou should e(pect very little time between
the shove and the incoming blow# which of course means you need to act fast in this situation.
4eople typically dont push# then walk away.
5. %. The Target &a'e: $n opponent will naturally look at what hes about to strike. *atch out
for an adversary who changes his gaze from your eyes to your chin or some other obvious
target. This is another one of those gifts from human nature# he cant help but look where he is
going to strike# so use that information to gain the upper hand.
%. (. The Chin )ro*: $nother involuntary move that should prompt you into a decision is
seeing your opponent drop his chin. This is a fairly consistent# and subconscious act of
protecting the neck# it almost always means trouble.
+er!a, Cues:
'. 1. The Threat: ,Im gonna zy(678 you up9. This may seem so obvious that its not worth
mentioning. $nd I wouldnt mention it if my research didnt show that :;/T ine(perienced
fighters do nothing in the face of serious verbal threats. They often stand by and take <; action.
0. 2. The #u--en #i,ent Treat.ent: If your opponent has been talking# talking# and talking#
then suddenly becomes quiet# it means hes entered into an internal dialog on what hes about to
do to you. $s =ight=ast instructor !emi >arbitos says& ,=ighters dont talk and swing at the
same time.. In other words he is probably about to hit you.
/re$ious 0eha$ior:
This one is painfully simple. If you are around someone who is known to be violent its pretty likely
they may start a fight. !ont play with fire. $lso into(icated men are trouble# into(icated men with
women around are even more trouble. If you get into an argument or scuffle with a drunk guy and his
girlfriend or other women are around he is very likely to fight.
Ive worked with almost a dozen bar bouncers from some of the roughest bars and nightclubs and they
all know that saving face is one of the biggest causes of fights. In other words if you somehow manage
to bump into# slight# or irritate a drunk guy or his girlfriend a fight is pretty likely# so be ready for it.
<ow that you know how to recognize a fight before it happens Ive got another fight move for you.
This one is from professional fighter and notorious ,cooler. :ike /err. ?o ahead and watch the video
before moving onto the ne(t section.
)ea,ing with Fear:
*hen it comes to fighting and learning how to fight fear is the @AA lb. gorilla in the room. Bverybody
knows its there but nobody want to talk about it.
*ell like it or not Im going to talk about it. $fter 0A years of working with /pecial ;ps soldiers#
/*$T cops# Cage"=ighters# B("?ang Bnforcers# and bar bouncers# Ive learned that all of them feel
fear before a fight.
*ow# what a shocker. =ear is normal and healthy. The thing is none of these guys are scared# because
they have learned to deal with that fear and make it work for them.
They have learned to harness that adrenaline dump and make it work for them# not against them.
The average guy on the street# when confronted with a life threatening fight will quickly realize the
danger and the voice inside his mind will start talking a mile a minute# ,*hy is this happening to meC
$m I going to dieC *hat did I do to piss him offC /hould I runC /hould I stay and fightC. and on and
on.
Detting this internal dialogue turn your fear into panic will get you hurt. Instead you have to use that
fear and adrenaline to help you identify targets and take action.
The first step is to control your breathing. /lowing the pace of your breaths (inhale deeply and e(hale
slowly sends a direct message to your brain that calms you down# lowers your heart rate# and lowers
your blood pressure.
The ne(t step is target awareness described below. >ut before we get to that heres another video for
you.
Target Awareness:
;nce you know a fight is eminent you need to look for open targets to strike. To do this you must be
aware of certain ,high value. targets on the human body# so that when they are e(posed or unprotected
you know when and how to strike them for ma(imum damage.
Target awareness is a continuous process because as an attacker moves closer or further away from you
the targets you can strike change. >elow is an e(ample of what your internal dialogue should be like
once you realize a fight is coming&
,+es approaching me E is he in rangeC.1
,Is there anything in his handsC.1
,*hat targets are openC.1
,$re there any friends aroundC.1
,<ow1 what targets are openC.1
,Is anyone behind meC.1
,*hat targets are open nowC.1
=inally you need some basic info about what targets to strike and why# some are common sense some
may surprise you&
1e2k: the side of the neck is a ,knock out. area. The good news is that the shoulder and head offer a
natural ,funnel. thatll guide your hand directly into his neck - which means its a ,high percentage.
shot. 4eople rarely protect their neck properly so even a poorly e(ecuted shot can often mean instant
knock out.
&roin: believe it or not# research shows that most guys do <;T protect their groin. They are so
,indoctrinated. with the idea that theyll be punched in the face that they leave themselves wide open
for one of the most devastating strikes. /o forget about focusing so much on getting in that right hook
to the head# (which hell be e(pecting# and start looking for an ;4B< target.
Insi-e knee: very vulnerable. ;ne good kick to the inside of the knee can end a fight instantly.
Outsi-e thigh: a favorite target of :uay Thai fighters is the nerve running down the outside of your
leg. Bven a well conditioned fighter cant stand more than a couple good shin kicks to this nerve before
buckling.
3yes: /triking the eyes is a great distraction technique. They are the main sense used during a fight#
take them away for even a second and you have gained a huge advantage. $n eye strike causes a person
to blink involuntarily# and if scratched the eyes will water blurring vision.
There are many more targets these are Fust a few to get you thinking like a fighter.
Geep your eyes peeled for an email tomorrow for !ay 0. $long with more free videos# tomorrow Ill
take you inside the world of a real street fight. This is something most guys have no idea about# thanks
to myths and misconceptions that often get guys hurt or killed.
Gnowing what a real fight is actually like is a huge advantage.
*hen it comes to street fights (any fight that happens without a referee there are too many
misconception to count# many of them can get you seriously inFured or killed. Todays lesson is all
about calling out the >./. and setting the story straight.
Gnowing the truth about street fights will take you a long way towards winning any fight. >ut first
heres a quick video tip from e("gang enforcer !iallo =razier showing you a technique that was
designed to turn the tables on an attacker. 4ay close attention to the interview at the end of the video
where !iallo sets the record straight on one of the biggest fight myths of all.
To* 14 Fighting 5yths
'. 1. 5artia, Artists Win #treet6ights: Disten# I dont like to ,knock. the martial arts. They all
have something valuable to offer. *e owe them a debt of gratitude for getting us where we are
today# and theyre better than nothing. >HT1unfortunately# many of the arts being widely
taught today are ancient arts# developed for another time and place in history# for specific
conditions and circumstances that simply do not e(ist in the world youll be fighting in today.

/tatistics show that your average ,store front. black belt does not have a much better chance at
winning a street fight than any other average guy.

/hockedC *ell dont be. :ost martial arts concentrate on discipline and complicated ,fine
motor. techniques that go straight out the window when the ,adrenaline dump. hits.
0. 2. The (75inute Fist Fight: This is a big one and its important that you get this +ollywood
version of fighting out of your head. *eve all been e(posed to movies where the hero is
endlessly fist"fighting. 3es# one big"gulp and a large popcorn later# hes still going at it.

>ut heres a reality check for you. <early every actual street fight lasts for no more than 2 to @
seconds9 Thats right. Its all over with in less time than it took for you to read this paragraph.
;nce you understand this# you can appreciate Fust how little time you have to recognize whats
going on and take decisive action to win. The key is what you do in the time leading up to that
2"@ seconds burst.
2. ". The 5an7To75an Fight: $nother grand
illusion. :ost guys imagine (and train for a
fight against one man. *ell you cant depend on
that. /tats prove that more times than not your
opponent will have ,back up#. friends willing to
help take you down and kick in your head. This
is why its critical that you first make quick and
effective decisions early on to end the as fight
quickly as possible and prepare for more than
one adversary.
5. %. The Con$enient Fighting 3n$iron.ent:
!oFo training often lulls one into the sense that
youll always have plenty of fighting room1
that your opponent will calmly approach you#
bow# and ask if youre ready1 and that the
ground will always be nicely padded. The reality
is different.

Ive found that most fights occur in tight quarters (a bathroom# between cars# etc# with little or
no room for flying kicks or fancy moves. There will be little or no light# furniture will be in the
way# and rough concrete floors to strip meat off your bones. ;uch9
%. (. 5ost Fights &o To The &roun-: :ost guys are surprised to discover that this is a myth# but
it is. In fact# most street fights and personal combat situations do <;T end up on the ground.
3es# someone ends up on the ground alright# and its the loser - with the winner (or winners
standing over him stomping on his head. /o why is this myth so commonC *ell# it comes from
the study of police reports. 3ou see# most cops who struggle with an adversary end up on the
ground.

<ow hold on - doesnt that contradict what I Fust saidC <o# it doesnt. >ecause the goal of law
enforcement is to ,contain# control# comply. (also known as the 2 Cs - which# by the way#
requires more skill than simply winning a street fight. In other words a cop cant simply eye Fab#
ear slap# then move in for a knock"out head butt because a dangerous criminal is resisting him.
<o# an officers goal is <;T to end a fight in 2 seconds# but instead to use ,reasonable and
proportionate escalation of force. to control and contain his subFect.

Im not suggesting you totally ignore ground fighting# but you should spend @A7 of your time
training to fight on your feet.
I. 8. 9our 6rien-s wi,, !a2k you u*: +a9 Im sad to say this is not true. *ed all like to believe
our buddies will back us up# but research shows that theyre more likely to pick their noses than
pick a fight. In fact# crowd behavior studies show that the more friends and bystanders are
hanging around# the less likely it is that youll get help in a fight.

<ow# on the other hand# if you have Fust ;<B friend and no crowd of bystanders# you actually
may get some help. >ut the facts have shown over and over that individuals inside a crowd are
less likely to act.
$ ,gang. mentality is different. They will back each other up because its part of their ,Fob..
J. :. Ignore the. an- they;,, go away: This is a common tactic# especially with women who feel
theyre being followed. They simply put on the blinders and hope for the best. ,;h goodness# I
hope that bad man goes away.. >ad tactic. !ont ignore a predator you suspect is ,scoping.
you. >elieve it or not# your best bet is to let him know that you $KB aware of him.

Dook at him directly. *atch him. Det him know youre aware of his presence. ;nce a predator
suspects you know his real intentions# it strips away much of the motivation to attack since the
element of surprise has been taken away - and surprise is one of the predators most powerful
tools. +e knows he cant surprise you# and now youre perceived as less of an easy mark.

;f course eyeballing a bully will have the opposite effect and will probably result in the ,what
are 3;H looking atC. response. /o this tactic is to be used when you suspect a predator.
@. <. A,, 9ou 1ee- Is One =Or Two> Fighting Te2hni?ues: This is a common theory that has
some truth to it. >ut I want to dispel the foolish notion that knowing less is better than knowing
more. This Fust isnt true. >ecause following this kind of logic would indicate that# for e(ample#
youd be better off using an uneducated bag"lady as your investment broker than a guy with a
:asters !egree in =inance. Id put my money on the :asters degree# but thats Fust me.

*ell# the same is true with fighting techniques. 3oure better off knowing more than less# as it
gives you the fle(ibility of using multiple methods to attack specific targets. Kemember1 one
of the most crucial keys to fighting and winning is proper target acquisition. In other words#
youll be far more effective with a crudely e(ecuted# but accurate# kick to your opponents nut"
sack than youd be with a really pretty roundhouse kick that missed the mark.
L. @. A,, 5i,itary Fight #yste.s Can 0e Truste-: Det me tell you a ,dirty little secret. about
some military combat systems being sold today. Kecently theres been a rash of ,e(perts.
whove ,trained. the military in their secret system.

+eres the scoop. Theyve offered a few military guys some free training in their system. Thats
it. =ree seminars or workshops to military personnel is almost always a marketing ploy and a
,resume building. e(ercise. They can now turn around and advertise that their system is used by
,military e(perts.. Geep your eyes open for this nonsense. )ust because someone trained
military personnel does <;T make their system special.

$nother thing# most soldiers will admit that much of the hand to hand stuff is absolutely
worthless to them because 'AA7 of their Fob is to fight at a distance using hi"tech weaponry E
<;T hand"to"hand systems.

This is e(actly why Ive personally sought out special military units that indeed depend heavily
on hand"to"hand fighting.

$nd believe me# these guys e(ist. I even got some of them to talk. They sneak around behind
enemy lines quietly ,taking care of business. without firing weapons and drawing a bunch of
attention to themselves. Keal live bad"asses thatd make Kambo look like a pussy.

>e on the lookout for !ay 2 in your inbo( tomorrow. Therell be two more videos for you and a lesson
on picking the best fight moves and why total commitment is the only policy when it comes to winning
a street fight. 3ou dont want to miss it.
Target Awareness $s. Te2hni?ue Fo2us
Hnderstanding the -i66eren2e !etween target an- too, (technique is an important concept that
confuses many fighters and gets them hurt. Gnowing where to strike (the ,target. is the key. How to
strike that target is simply a matter of which ,tools. youll choose.
The bottom line is recognizing an open target is much more important than having the best technique.
>ecause# a sloppy punch to the side of the neck is far better than a beautifully e(ecuted high reverse
round-house kick that misses the target.
3ou must throw away the idea that a certain punch or kick will solve your fight problem and instead
embrace the concept that hitting certain ,high value. targets (by $<3 means# is what *I</ fights
quickly.
0ut -on;t get .e wrong A te2hni?ue is 2ru2ia,. 3ou want that ,bag o nasty tricks. in your arsenal. Its
actually comforting when you realize youve got >;T+ bases covered - that is# youve got a solid
understanding of an opponents most vulnerable targets $<! an arsenal of highly effective techniques
to take advantage of them. /uddenly youre the guy walking the streets in tota, 2on6i-en2e knowing
you can ,take care of business. if the situation arises.
The idea is to concentrate on first things first. $nd the first step is to choose a target - the second is to
choose which tool or technique youll use.
*e already went over some of the best targets back in !ay '# but today Im going to list some more of
them before we talk about techniques.
?reat street fighting targets& Byes# ears# Faw# throat# solar ple(us (Fust below the sternum# groin# inside
and outside of the knee.
Those are the big ones# a well"trained fighter will look for many other targets.
What 5akes A &oo- Fighting Te2hni?ue
=irst off a good technique has a high -a.age *otentia,. In other words if it hits its target it will cause a
lot of pain or damage your attackers body. This is Fust common sense.
The other consideration is *ro!a!i,ity o6 su22ess. This is the real kicker# because many fancy martial
arts moves are devastating if they hit their target# but the chances of that happening in a street fight are
slim. Det me tell you why.
3ou will lose fine motor skills in a fight. ;nly very e(perienced fighters are able to use fine motor
skills during a conflict (were talking about <avy /B$Ds and other special ops soldiers.
::$ fighters are able to use fine motor skills because although the threat of getting hurt is real their
chances of dying in the ring are very small. Its the fear of death not a scuffle that gets you pumped
with so much adrenaline that fine motor skills go out the window.
If you arent familiar with fine motor skills the following e(planation will get you up to speed&
Fine 5otor #ki,,s: These are typically comple( moves
that require a high degree of training to learn and continual
training to maintain. 3our typical martial arts class will
teach you these skills. >y the time youre a black belt
(which may take ten years youll know all sorts of fine
motor skill techniques# including flying round house kicks#
flying knees# spinning back kicks# and a lot more.
*hen your adrenaline dumps during an attack (the ,fight
or flight. response hits# higher thinking processes begin to
degrade and fine motor skills deteriorate big time. Its how
the sympathetic nervous system works. $s heart rate goes
up# fine motor skills decrease# theres simply nothing you
can do about it.
>ecause fine motor skills are out the window you are
going to want to focus on ?ross :otor /kill to take out
your attacker. These are movements that utilize the larger
more powerful muscles of your body.
&ross 5otor #ki,,s: These do not require a lot of comple( bio"mechanical skills. <ail down a few
simple kicks# head"butt# elbows# knee work# and ground moves and youll be on your way.
Theyre based on natural movements that dont require years to learn and theyll stick with you even
when the adrenaline is pumping.
In fact# most fights are won with these simple (but well e(ecuted skills - mainly because youre
simply tapping into your bodys own natural movement patterns instead of forcing some overly"
comple( process that will often fall apart in a real fight.
>efore we get into total commitment and the fighting mindset I want you to take a look at the video
below. This technique is all about gross motor skills and is simple and easy to remember.
Tota, Co..it.ent:
Total commitment is the mindset you must have if you are going to win a fight. $nd it all starts with the
internal question# ,am I willing to hurt this guyC.
=irst# its important that you understand that street fighting is a zero sum game. That means theres no
such thing as a ,win"win. outcome. 3ou either win or you lose1 period. $nd losing can mean
hospitalization# permanent inFury or death.
Bven ,friendly. fights that start with a couple buddies wrestling for fun can quickly turn serious and
become lethal. Ive seen the police reports.
The smart fighters - even e(perienced match fighters E avoid personal combat on the streets whenever
possible because they know that the ,rules. are different. +owC *ell# unlike the ring# there are <;
rules. They understand that even a ,little guy. can use an improvised weapon# or get in a lucky strike
for an instant knock out.
3ou should never resign yourself to taking a beating under the assumption that youll take a couple
shots then lick your wounds and go home. :y research has shown that one of the most popular ,gang"
banger. moves is ,stomping. your head once youre down. Theres no guarantee youll live through
something like that# and if you do# that you wont be drooling from a wheelchair for the rest of your
life.
+ere are some assumptions youve got to keep in mind for any fight thatll help you stay totally
committed in a confrontation&
'. Bero #u. &a.e - There is <; potential win"win. There are thousands of ,lets step outside.
kinda fights that end in permanent inFury or death every year.
0. )e6eat is not a te.*orary set !a2k - and its <;T an option. >ecause keeping the option
open that it may be ,okay. if you get a good ass beating means that youre also okay with the
possibility of permanent inFury or death - or that the people youre supposed to be protecting
will be left to the mercy of your adversary.

<ever get comfortable with the idea that if you simply let this guy beat you up a little itll be
better than really pissing him off by fighting back. This is why getting the first question right in
your head is so important. am I willing to hurt this person? <ot# am I willing to fight this
person? you must be 'AA7 committed to victory.
2. 9our a-$ersary has 1O ru,es. Det me tell you about an ,underground. match fight I
witnessed between a baby"faced ,tough guy. and a hardened tattooed e("con.

This videotaped fight was supposed to require bamboo sticks and ,>aby face. said# in private#
hed use his stick to break his opponents fingers.

The e("con (on the other hand said# in private# his goal was to ,kill. the guy. Thats it1 didnt
even mention the sticks.

?uess whatC

*hen the fight started and the e("con simply threw down the stick# leaped on his opponent# and
tore half his face off with his teeth. In those seconds of terror# baby"face could only scream
,hes biting me1 hes biting me1 hes not using the stick1 hes not using the stick..

Certainly an ugly1 brutal1 and shocking way to make my point# but unfortunately its all
true. $ real fight means <; rules. 3ou cannot e(pect your adversary to show mercy or fight
,honorably..
5. A,ways ,ea$e i..e-iate,y. !ont stand around ,waiting to see what happens.1 because
winning the fight is as good as it gets - its all downhill from there. ?et you and your family the
hell out. +anging around means theres a good possibility youll be caught up in the ne(t round
of drama from friends or from citizens who might perceive you as the ,bad guy. or even from
the police.

That doesnt mean youre necessarily running from the law - its Fust that you want to talk to
the cops on 3;HK terms - without the e(tra drama and confusion. >ottom line - as <avy
/B$D trainer 4aul Munak points out1 ,?et out while you can..
The Four )s O6 /ersona, Co.!at:
These ,=our !s. were one of my own biggest ,ah"ha. e(periences because they e(plain why some
guys E even little guys (who may look like theyd have trouble winning a fight at a quilters
convention# consistently *;< real"world street fights against larger more aggressive opponents.
It boiled down to this. These guys were consistently good in four specific skills&
)e2e*tion
)istra2tion
)isru*tion
)estru2tion
This is e(citing ,meat and potatoes. stuff about actually winning a street"fight. The best part is# unlike
,sport fighting#. these skills have very little to do with size# strength# and physical skill. Dets take a
look&
)e2e*tion:
!eception is not some wishy"washy theory# it actually *;KG/ in the real world.

!eception plays on simple human psychology. The idea is to trick your adversary into thinking one
thing# then suddenly turn the tables on him. The result is confusion# hesitation# and panic.

+ere are a few classic deceptions techniques that really work.
+er!a, )e2e*tion:The idea is to deceive your opponent by verbally e(pressing the e(act
;44;/ITB of your real intentions. $ D;T of guys commit the mistake of announcing their real
intentions. !o <;T tell someone youre about to ,kick their ass. and make threatening
movements if thats what youre really planning to do.

$ better plan is to tell him that youre ,not looking for a fight#. or ,dont want trouble#. or even
that youre ,inFured and cant fight.. /ay anything thatll lull him into the comfortable belief
that he is indeed master of the universe.

The more he has settled into this mindset# the greater will be his surprise and panic when +B is
suddenly under attack. +ere are a couple of methods of verbal deception&
0egging: Please, dont hurt me The more you can get him to believe hes the guy in control#
the more effective this deception stuff will be. The idea is to set him up for the ,big surprise..
Then# put him on the defense# and ,back on his heels..
Co.*,y: $t the very least you should act like youre complying with his wishes. =or e(ample#
if some guy asks you to ,step outside#. you already know whats up. /o I ask you# is it really
necessary to ,step outside. and ,put up your dukes.C <o. $ better strategy would be to act like
youre going along with it# then launch into an attack or simply escape.
!ound unfair? ?ood1 This is your life# use whatever dirty tricks you can muster to end the
fight before you end up in the hospital or the morgue. The concept of ,total commitment.
means you are <;T fighting fair.
)istra2tion:
This principle hinges on another quirk of the human brain# its inability to completely focus on more
than one thing at a time.

The good news is that you can take advantage of this human limitation by redirecting# or ,distracting.
your opponents attention away from you so you can catch him off"guard.

The bad news is that distractions are often only effective for a split second or so# which means that
unless you have an immediate follow"up plan# the distraction is futile.

+ere are some highly effective 4K;MB< distractions thatll give you an opening to launch attack1
Cigarette: =licking a lit cigarette into your adversarys face will definitely distract him for a
moment. The key phrase here is for a moment.

If you flick the cigarette into your opponents face# then use the time to enFoy a good snicker
while watching him dance around brushing off the sparks# well1 your sense of humor will get
the better of you. !eception and distraction tricks are to be used only as simple mechanisms to
give you one or (at most two seconds to launch your attack or escape.

>ut when a typical fight only lasts up to @ seconds# a second or two is a huge amount of time.
Throw ,oose 2hange on the groun-. >elieve it or not# reaction to the sound of coins hitting the
ground is practically hardwired into the brain and creates a maFor distraction. I e(pect the more
of a tight"wad your opponent is# the better this works.

This is mainly an audible distraction E so unless youre fighting a stripper E tossing dollar
bills (even twenties wont work. ;h1 and dont e(pect to see that J2 cents again. Consider it
money well spent.
#*i,, or throw your -rink. This is one +ollywood trick that actually works. =irst# theres the
shock of ice cubes and cold liquid hitting the face1 and second# theres the instant (and
temporary blinding effect. This can be the most effective method in giving you a couple
seconds to do what you gotta do.
Im sure you can probably think of a dozen more simple distractions off the top of your head.
>ut youll need to keep an open mind and use whats available to you at the time.
)isru*tion:
This is any tactic or technique that messes with your opponents plan of attack. Kegardless of who your
attacker is hes threatening you because he ,envisions. in his minds eye everything ending up okay for
him. The movie in his head doesnt show him being hurt or killed.

The point of ,!isruption. is to make it clear to him that his plans of easy victory are nothing but a
fantasy. 3ou need to screw up his little plans# take away his options# and ,convince. him as quickly as
possible that this could end very badly for him.

+ere are a few ways to ,disrupt. his plans&
#ur*rise: The quickest and most effective method to surprising your adversary is to initiate the
attack - i.e. ,hit first..

$s one world"class street"fighter put it# ,you need to demonstrate# to your adversary# that you
have a total disregard for his well"being.. This is a nice way of saying that you should try to
hurt him. *hyC >ecause the psychological effect is to strip away his will to fight# and get his
,internal chatter. going.
C,ose the -istan2e: If theres no escape and youve determined that a fight is imminent# you
should move"in (as long as he doesnt have a knife.

In a hand"to"hand situation# ,moving"in. is a very effective tool to convince him hes made a
terrible mistake.

3ou do <;T want to close"in# then pause and do nothing. 3ou should move in with the 'AA7
intention of attacking.

>y closing the gap# you effectively neutralize the attackers two main weapons# the left and
right haymaker. This is a maFor disruption to his strategy and hes forced to stop and consider a
new strategy# while youre busy attacking.
Forwar- *ressure: :y research has 4K;MB< that the guy who puts continued forward
pressure against his opponent most often wins. 3ou do <;T want to let up.

Geep yourself in a fluid state and fire continuous shots at open targets# never ,letting up. your
attack until hes been removed as a threat or youve had the chance to escape effectively.
>efore we get into !estruction I want to share the following video lesson with you. This video comes
from )ames 4ainters Kock and Koll 4rison =ighting /ystem. This move was designed to work in close
quarters and cause lots of1you guessed it1)estru2tion.
)estru2tion:
This involves breaking down your opponent physically to remove him from the fight. This is not as
simple as ,kicking his ass.. The better you understand his vulnerable targets and the specific striking
techniques to attack those targets# the more effective a fighter youll be.

The two most critical elements for effective !estruction are# ' target selection and# 0 how youll
strike that target. The key is to attack the targets thatll give you the most bang for the buck (i.e. targets
thatll produce instant results with high"damage potential.

Bven an unsuccessful attack on a high damage target ,disrupts. your opponents evil plans.

=or e(ample# =ight"=ast instructor Tom Cruse points out that the ,elbow snap. technique does not
always break the elbow. >ut# the horrid reality that you attempted to bust his arm like a twig is so
disturbing to your opponent that his ,internal dialog. can turn him into a deer in the headlights#
shutting down his ability to vigorously fight back as he unconsciously switches to a more defensive
mode.

If you succeed (break his elbow for e(ample in most cases the fights over. ;n the other hand if you
dont succeed# the ,/urprise and /hock. value usually triggers negative internal dialogue.

/tay on the lookout for !ay % in your inbo( tomorrow.
Training 5etho-s:
$ complete review of proper training and conditioning methods for combat is beyond the scope of this
book# however# I do want to point out that the average guy looking to defend himself on the street
doesnt need to endure a lifetime of training.
;n the contrary# the entire purpose of my many !M! packages is to simplify everything. Ive received
emotional letters from dozens of customers who simply watched a certain program# did <; training#
and were able to recall and use it correctly when they needed it. !oesnt get much better than that. >ut
if youre serious about implanting this information deeply into your body# youll want to consider
training it.
/treet fighting does not require the same level or type of conditioning as sport fighting. /urprisingly#
cardiovascular endurance isnt a significant factor in a street fight. I know this is a controversial claim#
but research and 0A years of study and observation backs it up.
Kemember# true street fights (as opposed to mutually agreed combat rarely last longer than 'A seconds.
Hnderstanding and employing the 5 !s ("eception# "istraction# "isruption# "estruction# will
trump cardiovascular conditioning.
/o with that in mind# having the ability to initiate and maintain continuous e(plosive action for @ to 'A
seconds will give you a huge advantage in a fight. !esign your training accordingly.
=or street fighting focus your training on anaerobic conditioning (strength and power training. Bight to
ten seconds may not seem very long# but try going all out on a heavy bag for that amount of time1its
pretty tough.
The more realistic you train the better. This includes the emotional component as well. +ere are some
tips&
1.> /ra2ti2e initiating a *re7e.*ti$e atta2k an- 2ounter atta2k 6ro. .u,ti*,e *ositions and
stances. If you practice the 5 !s you wont be initiating the attack from a classic bo(ers stance.
:ore than likely your hands will be up# open# and forward in an ,I dont want any trouble.
submissive posture. This is the position you want to practice launching from.
2.> /ra2ti2e .aintaining a 2onstant !arrage.
$nd if training with a partner# maintain constant
forward pressure. Constant >arrage is more
important than /trike $ccuracy. 4ractice Target
awareness. If working on a heavy bag# imagine
different targets being made available# if working
with a partner# make sure he or she offers you a
variety of targets to attack.
".> /ra2ti2e your $er!iage as you initiate an
atta2k as well as anything you might say during
the attack. :ake it as real as possible. If you are
working with a training partner have your partner play the partN yelling# threatening# cursing#
etc. +is goal should be to drive up the emotional content as much as possible.
%.> )e$e,o* a #trike .enta,ity - /tart hitting a heavy bag. $ partner with ,strike mitts. is
even better# because it allows you to get used to movement. 4ractice striking with your hands#
elbows# shoulders# head# and knees and mi( up ,+i"Dine. shots (at the head and chest and ,Do"
Dine. shots (at the stomach# ribs# groin and legs.
(.> &et a 0att,e Cry - $s I Fust discussed# this does a couple things. =irst it throws off your
adversary for a couple of crucial seconds at the beginning of your action sequence. +is brain
will be burning up valuable seconds trying to process what all the yelling is about (,what the
hell1. while your attack is under way. Mery effective.

The second function of the battle cry is to prompt your brain into action. Theres a big
difference between thinking about taking action and actually taking action# and its easy for
most people to get ,locked down. in planning. 3our brain needs a kick in the butt to transfer its
energy from the thinking and planning mode into the action mode.
The battle cry is a verbal ,go. thats imperative to getting yourself moving forward. Its nothing
new# soldiers have been using this for thousands of years as a way to overcome freezing and to
strike fear in their enemies. >ut youll want to use this verbal battle cry in training ;<D3 when
you launch into an attack so that it holds power and is an ,internal trigger..
The ne(t training principle is proper e(ecution. =ew moves require better e(ecution than weapon
disarms. In the following video# youll learn the correct technique to disarm an attacker with a gun. $
situation we all hope to god we never find ourselves in# but one where the right technique is the
difference between life and death.
8.> A,ways *ra2ti2e *ro*er eCe2ution: *atching countless videos of actual street fights as they
happened has only cemented what my research has already strongly suggested that real"world
fighting is sloppy. It is the rare e(ception for a fighter to properly e(ecute a comple( martial arts
move.

This is why its important to practice proper e(ecution as youll be more likely to retain a
percentage of it when ,crunch time. hits. $s e(pert shooter >ennie Cooley points out# if you
can group your shots with 2 inches of each other during practice# you may Fust retain a grouping
the size of a paper plate in real combat (which is considered e(cellent shooting in the real
world. ;r as >ruce Dee once pointed out& ,I do not fear the man who has practice 'AAA kicks
one time1 I fear the man who has practiced one kick 'AAA times..
>ut >ruce was a little off in his numbers. /tudies show that it takes about 0#AAA repetitions of a
move before its actually ,implanted. into your brains neural pathway for easy recall even
under stress. <ow 0#AAA sounds like a big number# but its not. The key is to practice a move
correctly.
+ere is a proven method for developing your skills.
Le$e, 1:
'. 4ractice a move in front of a mirror slowly. This allows you to ,self correct. anything
youre doing wrong. Geep practicing until you are satisfied that your technique is
correct.
0. 4ractice the same move in front of mirror at full speed. $gain1 this allows you the
opportunity to self correct.
2. Try it again1 this time in slow motion with your eyes closed. 3oull want to
periodically sneak a peek in the mirror to see if youre still on track with your technique.
5. *hen your satisfied with your technique# perform it at full motion with your eyes
closed. This will start hardwiring the move into your muscle memory.
Le$e, 2: ?et your hands on a heavy bag1 theyre not e(pensive
and the e(ercise value alone that youll receive it is worth every
penny.
%. <ow practice the same move on heavy bag - slowly. Hse
a mirror again if you can to periodically check your
technique. If you see that its flawed# go back to Devel '.
I. 4ractice the technique on heavy bag at full speed. Try to
visualize how youd use the move on specific target
areas.
Le$e, ": 4ractice with a partner. <ow I realize not all of us have
someone willing to act as your punching bag# but for those who
are committed to taking their skills to an e(pert level# having a
live person to practice on is important. =or any specific move
you want to&
J. 4ractice with partner slowly1 then when youre both
comfortable1.
@. 4ractice with partner at full speed.
;f course this is only a brief description of how to train. The !M!s will take you through specific
moves and techniques in detail. >ut its important to remember to always be careful with your partner#
especially if youre Fust getting started. :ake sure your partner understands how to ,tap"tap"tap. on
your side whenever they feel uncomfortable.
:ost of the moves youll discover are ones that can be used ,straight out of the bo(.. Theyre almost
always simple# easy to learn# and devastating# so you must use care during any practice. $void
,showing off. your new moves to unsuspecting friends or family members as its easy to put them in
the hospital or permanently inFure (even kill them.
Thats it for the free fighting course# but dont worry Ill still be in touch. Ill be sending you chapters
of the full length fight guide (this % day course was a condensed version and video tips from my blog
