Gives detailed informations about multimedia files, especially
the codecs needed to play the file and where to download these
codecs if they are missing on your system.
Filetypes recognized :
----------------------
avi, asf, ogg, ogm, mp3, mpg, rm, rmvb, vob, wav, wma, wmv;
also eDonkeys part and Kazaa dat
as well as all types handled by DirectShow!
Help Guide :
------------
- Icons : eye = video not viewable
speaker = audio not hearable or no audio in file
- Quick Analyze : there are 2 levels of testing which can be made to see i
f a multimedia
file will "work" on your computer; the second level work
s by asking
DirectShow if it can play the file. The problem there is
that it takes
a lot of time, thus is can be disabled with the "Quick A
nalyze" option.
- Removing a column : just right-click on a column header; a confirmation box
will pop up.
- Header : not the precise and real header, but a header for debug
purposes. The
size of this file may vary depending on the format (big
size for MPEG
files).
- Quality : based on following formula (I'm open to improvments):
sum of:
20% video framerate (Min = 20 fps, Max = 30 fps )
30% video resolution (Min = TV 160*120, Max = 640*480 )
30% video bitrate (Min = 500 Kbps, Max = 2000 Kbps)
20% audio bitrate (Min = 96 Kbps, Max = 192 Kbps )
Data out of bound is forced to the lower or higher value
accordingly.
- Duration : for some mpeg and ogm files, this information is not pre
sent.
- Data amount : sizes in bytes, rates in bits per seconds.
- Settings : not saved if you don't have administrator rights on your
computer.
