Nutts J Banks V2

This document summarizes a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study of the resistance components of a container ship (KCS) hull. A structured mesh with approximately 10 million elements was generated around the hull geometry. Simulations were performed using the SST or BSAS turbulence models to model turbulence. Results were validated against experimental towing tank test data for total resistance and wave fields of the KCS hull. The goal was to develop and validate a numerical method for evaluating resistance components on a towed hull and investigate the impact of a body force propeller model on resistance and flow around the stern of a self-propelled ship.
