ASME BOILER AND PRESSURE VESSEL CODE: SECTION VIII,
DIVISION 1, PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN
Course Description 4 day course taught by Don Kurle, PE
This course is a four day comprehensive introduction to pressure vessel design in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1. This course is intended for beginners, as well as experienced vessel designers and inspectors who would like to update their knowledge of the Code.
Who Should Attend
Individuals involved with the design or inspection of pressure vessels. Some degree of technical background will be helpful, but such individuals are not required to have an Engineering degree or previous work experience in the subject matter.
Course Content
The course will introduce the participants to the basic design requirements of the ASME Code, Section VIII, Division I, Pressure Vessels. General topics in the course include scope of Section VIII, Div 1, users and Manufacturers responsibilities, general design requirements, design requirements related to materials, welded joint design requirements and vessel component design. Participants will have the opportunity to practice performing hand calculations of vessel components.
The course will be conducted in a lecture/discussion/problem solving format designed to provide intensive instruction and guidance on understanding the design requirements for pressure vessels.
