the technologies that change how we live our lives and even how we interact with one
another.
(When)I entered college (I was) and was initially overwhelmed by the classes which
involved both theory and practical. Down the line, the Computer Science and Engineering
department of my college instilled confidence and inculcated in me practical knowledge of
the fundamental concepts. Subjects like Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented
Programming, Computer Networks, Web Technologies intrigued me. I realized that I could
grasp new concepts quickly and excel beyond the expectations of my superiors. Given my
preference for practical expertise, the projects that I worked on in college (further concretised
the desire to pursue?) gave me further motivation on why I should further pursue a
masters in computer science.
I created an offline website using Servlets in JAVA as a part of a Lab project, which fuelled
my interest in JAVA. I created a Hospital Management website using JAVA as a front end
and Oracle as a backend using java jdbc odbc connection. My proficiency in coding
particularly in JAVA enabled me to easily experiment variant possibilities and my knowledge
in JSP Java Server pages also helped me understand Web-based applications using the
Graphical User Interface.
The passion to code further led me to work on a socially beneficial project with the aim of
helping the children of The Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu (SPASTN). As Part of a three
member team for Kurukshetra'13, an international techno management fest hosted by College
of Engineering Guindy, I developed a Math Assistant software which enables the children to
perform mathematical calculations and construct and understand functional graphs with ease.
These children, affected by cerebral palsy, are physically challenged and are restricted by
minimal movement of fingers. The user interface of this software involves a scan which
moves on the screen over the objects present and whenever the required object is highlighted,
a click of the mouse with the cursor anywhere on the screen selects that object. All arithmetic
calculations, linear graphs and geometric shapes can be easily drawn and understood without
the children having to move their hands at all. The programming language used is JAVA.
I partook in an In plant training at HCL Career Solutions where I gained real-world expertise
in concepts such as Computer Networks, A+, N+, Ethical Hacking, Cloud Computing and
Red Hat. This incited in me the impulse to pursue Computer Networks for Masters and to
blend (enhance? Because blend sth with sth) my understanding of software and networks.
To gain further experience in Networking I pursued an internship programme in Indian
Institute of Design and Manufacturing under this domain. I worked on The Open flow
protocol which is part of the latest research topic in Networking Software Defined
Networking . I mainly focused my research on the topic Internet Traffic Analysis in
Open Flow Networks. It was an invigorating experience that taught me how to co-ordinate
with my fellow interns and discuss problems and come up with various solutions. It taught
me how to survive in a research oriented environment and tackle a problem. For the first time
I learnt what leadership skills really are.
My Final year project is based on the Handover Management in Heterogeneous Networks (4g
LTE).We aim to simulate efficient handovers using moving direction estimation and cellular
location to predict the target handover cell.
I have organised Technical events such as circuit debugging and paper presentations for my
college symposium ABACUS which helped me sharpen my leadership qualities and team
spirit. Being the co-ordinator for these events it helped refine my management skills and
augment my adeptness in solving predicaments. My curiosity in mathematics ushered me to
take up many aptitude and analytical reasoning tests which assisted me in solving problems in
a dexterous manner and has kept me sharp and sprightly in all situations.
Apart from academics, I have fostered several passions. On the artistic fore, I have pursued
my fervour in Carnatic singing and Bharatnatyam since 1999 and I have kept it active by
taking part in various programs. (On the artistic fore, I have kept my fervour for Carnatic
singing and Bharatnatyam alive since 1999 by taking part in various programs) I have given
individual performances in many renowned stages. I also have a black belt in Karate and have
led my team to win national level tournaments. Thereby I have not only equipped myself with
self defense but also honed my leadership qualities.
I firmly believe that what we gain from the society should be returned with the same passion
as we receive. I am part of the International Award for young people, (The Duke of
Edinburghs Award) which is a Non-Profit Organization, and received the silver medal. Its a
youth Empowerment Award which involves Community service, Charity work,
Environmental Service. I have also taught underprivileged kids in my spare time. I visit the
Government schools to organize activity for the kids to partake in, thereby enabling them to
learn in a hands on manner.
I would be privileged to pursue my M.S program at your university; to experience the
research opportunity in an intellectually fulfilling multicultural environment guided by the
most distinguished faculty. I prefer to pursue my MS in CS in Georgia College of
Computing, due to the options in the flexibility of the course structure. The research at your
university seems to parallel with my interests. Especially the ongoing research in the
Software Define Networking in the Georgia Tech Network Operations and Internet
Security Group lead by Professor Nick Feamster. (this sentence is incomplete) My Goal is to
pursue Graduate Studies so as to gain in-depth knowledge that is needed at this stage to uplift
the learning curve in my career. In the long run I aim to pursue (you can omit the pursue?)
work in line with my passions with the fully equipped knowledge that I gain in my Masters.
I look forward to a very fruitful, rewarding and pleasant learning experience at your
university.
You have used passion 4 times so in at least one place substitutes like zeal, avidity?
Pursue 8 times participate in in the internship bit, and Ive suggested omission of 2 other
pursues
I cant think of any quote as of now Ill let you know ASAP
You are so multi-faceted! I came to know so much more about you today.
Its really well written. I dont understand why you were so self-deprecating! Best of luck!
