ASSURE MODEL LESSON PLAN

Subject : English Class : 2 Cerdik


Topic : Where Am I? Age Range : 8 years old
Time : 60 minutes
A. ANALYSE LEARNERS

General Characteristics: The pupils represent a range of experiences and attainment
levels. There are 25 pupils- 14 girls and 11 boys. They come from a moderate socio-
economic background. Many of their parents work in the government and private sectors.
Exposure on directions (turn left, walk straight, turn right, etc.) is very essential to young
learners. Children should be given early exposure so that they can understand and apply it in
the future.


Entry Characteristics: Pupils enjoy doing activities which are related to directions and
places they know and they go everyday.


Learning Styles: Pupils in the class exhibit a variety of learning styles such as visual,
auditory and also kinaesthetic learners. However, most of them prefer getting guidance from
the teacher.

B. STATE OBJECTIVES

Pupils will be able to:
read and understand simple and compound sentences.
apply word attack skills by grouping words according to word categories.
identify plural nouns from the text given.
answer comprehension questions from the stimulus provided.
listen to the video and list down the main points from it.

C. SELECT MEDIA, MATERIALS AND METHODS

Media: Use of video and pictures


Materials: Courseware presentation from Articulate Storyline about directions, places and
positions, computer, speaker, projector and white screen.


Methods:
Pupils use the courseware along the learning session with the teacher guidance.
Teacher facilitates the pupils how to move on from one activity to another.
Teacher uses the courseware to give input on what he or she is going to teach the
pupils.
Pupils answer question and quiz to ensure they have achieved the learning
objectives.

D. UTILIZE MEDIA, MATERIALS AND METHODS

Environmental Preparation: Pupils sit according to their classroom arrangement, facing the
white screen.


E. REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION

Induction Set: The teacher shows a video about directions such as turn right and turn left
and ask the pupil what is on that video.
Presentation Stage: Pupils will actively participate in this stage. They will explore the
interactive learning, read texts provided, look at the necessary pictures, listen to the audio
and watch the video. The teacher will facilitate and guide them on how to use the
courseware.
Practice Stage: Pupils will be given time to answer comprehension, multiple-choice and
sequencing questions based on the texts and the inputs presented by the teacher in the
previous stage.
Production Stage: Each one of the pupils are required to write down a short description on
how to get to the playground from their own house.
Closure: The teacher emphasizes on what they have learned through the lesson.
Skills to practice: How to use the courseware from Articulate Storyline.

F. EVALUATE AND REVISE

Learner Evaluation:
The following areas are evaluated:
Pupils responses
The completion of the task


Evaluation of Methods and Media: Pupils discipline and obedience during the activities are
evaluated for future reference.


Revision: The teacher and the pupils reflect on the lesson to improve both teaching and
learning outcome in the future lesson.
