16. HOTEL PROGRAMMI NG
16.1Guest / Servicegroupprogramming
This facility is basically specific for hotels only. It helps to
classifyeachextensionunderservicegrouporguestgroup.
Broadlythere canbe followingthree types of groups:
1) Individual guest group ('0' group) :
This is thegroupof individual guests whoonlyneedto
call service group extensions. They cannot call any
other roomnumber.
2) Guest group ('1' to '8' group) :
Thisisforagroupofmorethanoneguestsandoccupying
more than one rooms. These guests can call service
group extensions and other extensions of the same
group
3) Service group ('9' group) :
This groupof extensions includes operator/hotel staff
and management. Any extension can call this group
andthis groupcancall anyother extension.
To assigngroupto anextension,
Dial
+ 38- Extn. number - Group number
16.2Floor servicedestination
Youcansetaroomserviceextn. seperatelyfor eachfloor.
Access code for roomservice for all floors shall be same
(default 38), but the ring shall go to corresponding room
serviceextn. dependingonthecallers floor.
For example :
If theroom210onsecondfloor calls for roomservice, ring
should go to the roomservice extension on second floor.
Similarly, if room415onfourthfloor calls for roomservice,
ringshouldgo to roomservice extensiononfourthfloor.
This helps thehotel managementstaff toaddress toguest's
call in more efficient and quicker manner. This feature is
also knownas floor service.

Inthis,
Eachextn. is assignedafloor group.

To assigna service extn. to a floor,
Dial
+ 2042- Floor number - Extn. number
Indefault floor service extn. for all floors is 22/202.
To assignroom/floor service code,
Dial
+ 2041- XX #
Where XX is anytwo digit number from30to 38.
Default floor service code is 38.
For Example : Consider a hotel with nine rooms spread
over three floors with three rooms on each floor. Room
numbers 202, 203, 204, 206, 207 and 208 are used for
individual guests (group 0) whereas roomnumbers 210,

20. REVERSAL / TI ME OUT
For call maturitydetection, followingoptions arepossible
1=Time Out (Default)
2=CPD+Time Out
3=OnlyCPD
4=Reversal
Sometimes small or mediumrange EPABX systems may
be used behind bigger private EPABX'S to expand their
existingcapacity. ExtnscomingfromthebiggerEPABXshall
act as trunks for the smaller EPABX extns.
Now, if any extn connected to smaller EPABX is to be
allowed local dialing through bigger system, it shall have
to be given STD dialing facility. In this case, these extns
maymisusethis facilityif anyP&T lineis connecteddirectly
to smaller system. This problemmaybe solvedbysetting
atie-linedigitcountfor eachjunctionline. This countis the
number of digits to be ignored before class - of - service
checkis begun.
To set maturityandtie-line digit count,
Dial
+ 42- J n. No. - X - Y
Where J nno. = 1for 61, 2for 62.......
X = Maturitycode (1-4)
Y = Tie - line digit count (0-9)
(If you are not using the J n. as
tie-line, thenkeepY as 0)
If you are having the reversal facility fromP&T, keep the
junctiononreversal mode i.e mode 4
With the ACPD logic, the EPABX has the capability to
detectringbacktone/ dial toneetc. Forcall maturitybased
onACPDlogic, thesystemfirstsenses theringbacktone.
As soonas theringbacktonestops, itassumes thecall to
be answered & starts the call counter. For call maturity
basedonlyonACPD, programme junctiononmode3.
However, sometimes if theP&Tlineis verynoisyor if there
is a lot of background noise at the caller's end, or if the
Crystal Programmers Guide
S. N. Electrotalk Industries 22
caller answers the call on the 1st ring itself (the system
does not get time to detect ring back tone) then ACPD
maturitymightfail.
If youareveryparticular nottomiss anycall thenkeepthe
junctiononmode2. Inthis caseevenif theACPDmaturity
fails, after 40seconds thesystemshall assumethecall to
be mature and shall start the call timer. Calls which have
matured on CPD logic shall be printed with remark 'C' in
the print out, andcalls maturedontime out basis shall be
blankintheremarkcolumn. Mode2is thebest suggested
mode. Thetimeoutdelayisprogrammablefrom01to99sec.
To set this value,
Dial
+ 213XX
Where XX is time from01to 99sec.
If the ring back tone fromyour P&T exchange is not of
standardfrequencythenyoushall havetokeepthejunction
ontime out mode only- ie. mode 1.
Inthis mode all calls will be registered.
Indefault, the value of time out delayis 40seconds.

40.5Toset servicechargesfor local / STDcalls
Forcertainapplications, likeinhotels, themanagementmay
liketoaddservicechargefor eachlocal or STDcall made
by the guest. These service charges are programmable.
Theseservicecharges will beaddedtothecostof thecall
calculatedusingpulserateandduration.
Hence, Total cost of call
=(call unit charge X no. of units)+(STDservice charge)
Example:
Assume for anySTDCall
Time slab : Full rate
Call : 12seconds
Pulse : 2.0/4.0/6.0/8.0
STDservice charge : 2.00
Unit charge : Rs. 1.50
So,
Call unit = (No of seconds / Pulse rate) +1
= (12/2) +1
= 7Units
Total cost = (1.50X7)+2.00
= Rs. 12.50

addedonlyonce for a local call. This does not dependon
thedurationofthecall. Whereasinhotel / motel applications,

charges are added.
For single service charge,
Dial

For Example : For a local call pulse rate of 180 sec. with
unit charge of Rs.1.50 per call and local call service
charge of Rs.5.00, if a call is made for 340 seconds the
cost of call in case of single service charge is Rs 8.00
