Netbackup agent installation procedure and
adding servers in Netbackup policy
We have three Netbackup servers (BOSBACKUP7, CORPBACKUPSIN01 & CORPBACKUPWTR01), every backup server have installation package on the path (\\BOSBACKUP7\E:\Install\Netbackup\7.1\NetBackup_7.1_Win\PC_Clnt)
Step1- Open run on the server where you want to installed netbackup agent and type the above path then right click on the setup.exe and click run as administrator. As per below screen shot.
Step2- if you want to install agent only one computer then Select the option (install to this computer only) as per below screen shot.
Step3- write down the Master server name in Master server name box as per below screen shot. Make sure the Master Server Name is correct. Additional Servers may include other backup servers that need access to backup from this server, or any server running NetBackups OpCenter. Click Next.
If you want to install netbackup agent on multiple computer then select the option second (Install to multiple computer on your network) as per below screen shot
Click on next and add the Master server name in master server name box then click next as per below screen shot. Make sure the Master Server Name is correct. Additional Servers may include other backup servers that need access to backup from this server, or any server running NetBackups OpCenter. Click Next.
Click Add to type in servers manually where then you will be prompted for domain admin credentials. You may also add a list of servers by including them in a .txt file and using the import button. (In an import, servers must be named as BAIN\ServerName on individual lines)
Add the domain and computer name as per below screen shot.
Put the credential on remote computer login credential window then click ok.
Click ok.
Then you will be able to see the computer as per below screen shot and from this way you can add many computer, then click next and install
Adding Server to Backup Policy Log in into the respective Master Server and Open the Netbackup Administration console, In our environment we are using couple of policy type so below are the all policy type and procedure to add the servers in respective policy.
VM servers Policy Type = Flash backup- Windows with query based. Benefits = we can restored whole VMs and also restore files and folders level backup. Policy Name = VM-Backup-Snapshot_xx
Below is the procedure to add in VM server in VM backup policy. Step = Double click on VM-Backup-Snapshot policy, select the client tab then you will be able to see Query builder, then follow the screen shot instructions.
Physical Servers Policy Type = MS-Window (All local drives backup) Benefits = we can restored all local drives files and folders. Policy Name = Win_Production
Below is the procedure to add in Win Production policy. Step = Double click on Win_Production policy, select the client tab then add the server as per screen shot below.
SQL Physical servers Policy Type = MS-Window (we have setup the selected selection to take the backup) Policy Name = SQL_Dump Selection = we are taking backup only below selection in SQL_dump policy. If the physical SQL server we should add the server in SQL_Dump policy. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\BACKUP D:\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup D:\MSSQL\Backup D:\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup E:\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup E:\MSSQL.2\MSSQL\Backup E:\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup E:\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup F:\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup L:\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup E:\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup
Exchange Database
Double click on Exchange policy, click on the backup selections tab then add the database (Microsoft Exchange Database Availability Groups:\Boston-DAG.bain.com\Microsoft Information Store\AMERXX) as per screen shot below.
